Veteran Major Leaguer Tim Wallach has instilled a winning philosophy in the Isotopes in only his first year at the helm, and he picked up the league's Manager of the Year award for his efforts.
빅리그 출신의 팀 웰치(Tim Wallach)감독은 첫 해에 자신만의 철학으로 엘버커키를 플옵에 올려놓으면서 '올해의 PCL감독'으로 선정되었다.

His philosophy is aided by venerable Mitch Jones, a veteran All-Star who shared the Minors' home run title with Jonathan Gaston after knocking 35 out of the yard. On the pitching end, Giancarlo Alvarado led the staff with 13 wins and All-Star righty Scott Strickland racked up 32 saves.
엘버커키를 이끌었던 인물로는 올해 PCL 홈런왕(35HR)인 미치 존스(Mitch Jones)와 다승 2위(13)승의 쟌카를로 알바라도(Giancarlo Alvarado)와 세이브 리더(32Save)인 스캇 스트릭랜드(Scott Strickland)가 있다.

West Michigan edged Great Lakes in the season series, 10-9, despite being outscored, 92-86. The clubs last faced off Aug. 7-9, when the Loons swept the 'Caps in three games, including a pair of shutouts.

Great Lakes is led by league co-MVPs Kyle Russell and Dee Gordon. Russell paced the circuit in homers and RBIs, while Gordon was second in all of Minor League Baseball in stolen bases. West Michigan's Billy Nowlin and Gustavo Nunez both finished in the top three in the league batting race.

The Whitecaps reached the playoffs last year, falling to South Bend in the first round after winning back-to-back Midwest League titles in 2006-07. This is the first playoff appearance in franchise history for Great Lakes.
06~07년에 리그 2연패를 달성한 후 와이트캡스는 작년에 또 플옵에 진출했지만 1라운드에서 사우스 밴드(South Bend)에게 패배하였다. 반면, GLL은 프렌차일즈 역사상 첫 플옵 진출이다.
