LA 다저스, Top 20 Prospects

메이저리그 닷컴에 LA 다저스의 유망주 순위가 올라왔습니다. 역시나 올해 대형 트래이드를 다수 추진을 했기 때문에 유망주 수준이 떨어졌다는 평가입니다. 전체 TOP 100 유망주 랭킹에도 잭 리 한명이 포함이 되어 있습니다. 이해가 되지 않는 이름과 왜 포함이 되지 않았는지 이해가 되지 않는 선수들이 있지만....뭐..흥미롭군요.

1. Zach Lee
A football standout who was signed away from quarterbacking at LSU, Lee showed a more advanced feel for pitching than many anticipated during his first season of pro ball. He has a plus fastball that can touch the upper 90s. His curve also shows glimpses of being a plus pitch, and he’s worked on a slider, giving him another outstanding breaking ball. Lee has shown a good changeup and can command all four pitches. He gets high marks for his makeup and competitiveness. After starting the season in High A ball, Lee was sent to extended spring training to work through a lingering groin issue. He returned to High A Rancho Cucamonga at the beginning of June and was promoted to Double-A Chattanooga on June 25. 2. Yasiel Puig
The Dodgers made a huge splash in the international market when they inked Puig, the Cuban defector, to a seven-year, $42 million contract in late June. The third of three big Cuban outfield prospects to sign deals in 2012, Los Angeles clearly hopes Puig can eventually have the same impact that Yoenis Cespedes had with the A’s in 2012 and that the Cubs hope Jorge Soler will have down the line. Puig’s best raw tool is his power, which is easily plus, though it may not be ready to show up consistently in games just yet. He’s shown plus speed and the Dodgers think he should be able to steal some bases. With the potential to hit for average and power with an above-average arm and good speed, the Dodgers hope he can develop into a Sammy Sosa-like impact player at the big league level. He will have to watch his conditioning and with the big pay day, staying motivated will be key. If he can do that, the sky could be the limit. 3. Chris Reed
Reed flew under the radar for a while as Stanford’s closer, but his plus fastball started getting noticed, and the Dodgers nabbed him in the middle of the first round. Although he relieved in college, the Dodgers, like many teams, think Reed can start. That’s because he has a very good three-pitch mix that he commands well. He can get his fastball up to 96 mph out of the bullpen with good arm-side run. His power slider gives him enough to excel in relief, but he also has a changeup that could be a future plus pitch as well. With fairly good command, it remains to be seen how he’ll do in a starting role, though the early returns were positive in 2012. After posting a 3.09 ERA in seven starts at Rancho Cucamonga, Reed was bumped up to the Double-A Lookouts in early June. 4. Joc Pederson
Sometimes a player has to take a little step back to take a bigger one forward. Pederson struggled in full-season ball to start the 2011 season but absolutely tore up the Pioneer League when he was sent down. There, he showed the hitting tools that made him an over-slot sign in the 11th round of the 2010 Draft, and that success carried over into the 2012 season as well. Pederson looks like he’ll have the ability to hit for average and power from the left side, with a very good approach at the plate. He’s a basestealer more because of his instincts than his pure speed, and he should settle into an outfield corner spot as he moves up. Pederson has all the tools to be a very good hitting outfielder, and it looks like they’re all coming together for him after his slow start (올해 A+팀에서 뛴 페더슨은 좋은 타격 감각을 바탕으로 좋은 성적을 기록했다고 하는군요. 좋은 타격능력을 보여주는 코너 외야수로 발전을 할 것 같다고 하는군요.)

5. Angel Sanchez
Sanchez made his professional, and U.S., debut in 2011 with full-season Great Lakes and hit the ground running, but found tougher times in the hitter-friendly Cal League in 2012. He has a very good three-pitch mix with a fastball he can get up to 95 mph that has good command and life. His changeup is a plus pitch and his curve is at least average now. At 6-foot-3, he's got good size and plenty of room to fill out. Although he is just starting out, his feel for pitching could help him move more quickly, eventually establishing himself as a middle-of-the-rotation type in the big leagues. (올해 A+리그에서 불안한 스탯을 보여주었지만 최고 95마일에 이르는 움직임이 좋은 직구와 페인지업, 커브볼은 좋은 평가를 받고 있다고 하느군요. 신체적으로 더 발전을 할수 있는 선수인데 피칭 감각을 발전시킬수 있다면 메이저리그에서 충분히 선발투수가 될 수 있을것 같다고 하는군요.)

6. Chris Withrow
Withrow’s pure stuff and arm strength are still as exciting as when he first came out of the Texas high school ranks in 2007. He has a plus fastball and will show a plus curve. His changeup is still a work in progress, though it has improved. He made strides in 2011 but still struggled with his command. If he can throw strikes more consistently, he still has the stuff and is young enough to develop into a Major League starter. If not, he does have a power arm that would work out of a bullpen. His 2012 season was hindered by injuries. His debut was delayed by an abdominal injury, and he landed on the DL again with a strained lower back at the beginning of June. He returned to action on June 28, pitching solely in relief after beginning the season as a starter. (커맨드를 발전시킬수 있다면 그의 구위는 충분히 메이저리그에서 선발투수로 성장할수 있는 수준이라고 하는군요. 부상 때문에 시즌 데뷔가 늦었던 위드로는 올해 주로 불펜투수로 뛰었다고 합니다.)

7. Corey Seager
The brother of Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager, Corey has the chance to be just as good as, if not better than, his older sibling. The younger Seager has plus bat speed and makes consistently hard contact. In the past, he’s been more of a contact guy with a two-strike approach, but he did start showing more ability to drive the ball during last summer and his senior year. While he’s played shortstop during his summer debut with the Dodgers, many feel his eventual home will be the hot corner, just like Kyle. He has good defensive instincts and a very strong arm that would work just fine from third. Seager's pure hitting skills, along with his instincts, could potentially allow him to move a little more quickly than some high school players. (준수한 수비능력과 강한 어깨를 가진 3루수로 성장할수 있을것 같다고 하는군요. 세련된 타격 감각을 갖고 있기 때문에 다른 고교 타자들보다 빨리 승격이 될 수 있을것 같다고 하는군요.)

8. Matt Magill
The Dodgers have never shied away from drafting and developing young arms, and Magill is no exception. The SoCal high schooler is tall and projectable and has shown some feel for pitching, albeit inconsistently at times. He’s not the pure arm-strength guy Los Angeles often covets, but he can run his fastball into the low 90s, with a very good slider and a decent changeup. With the move up to Double-A in 2012, Magill’s strikeout rate went up, as did his groundout rate. So did his walk rate, however, and Magill will have to continue to refine his command to have prolonged success at the highest level. (90마일 초반의 직구와 매우 좋은 슬라이더, 수준급 체인지업을 갖고 있다고 하는군요. 올해 aa리그에서 좋은 모습을 보여준 매길이 내년에 PCL을 극복할수 있을지 궁금하네요.)

9. James Baldwin
While his father was a pitcher in the big leagues, this Baldwin is a very toolsy center fielder with a ton of upside and a long way to go. He started showing the ability to tap into his raw power a bit in 2011, and there should be more to come, though he didn’t show much of it in 2012. He may also be a better all-around hitter, but he’ll have to cut down his strikeouts and refine his approach to do that. His speed works on the basepaths and in center field. A premium athlete who played three sports in high school, Baldwin simply needs time to develop, and the Dodgers are confident things will start clicking for him as a result. (툴이 좋은 선수로 포텐셜은 좋지만 가야 할 길이 먼 선수라고 하네요. 다저스는 이선수가 지금보다 휠씬 발전할 수 있는 선수로 확신을 하고 있다고 하는군요. 일단.....컨텍부터...)

10. Alex Castellanos
Not even getting traded for Rafael Furcal was going to disrupt Castellanos’ big 2011 season at the plate. Between Springfield in the Cardinals’ system and Chattanooga, the Dodgers’ affiliate in the Double-A Southern League, Castellanos hit for average and power and set career bests in homers, RBIs, average and slugging. And he followed that up with perhaps an even more impressive season at Triple-A in 2012. He’s not a patient hitter, with an ugly strikeout-to-walk ratio, but he showed improvement there in ’12 as well. He played only the outfield the past two seasons, but he returned to the infield in ’12, splitting time between second and third. He got his first callup to the Major Leagues at the end of May, when Matt Kemp was sent to the DL for the second time, but returned to Triple-A Albuquerque on June 12. (2루수와 3루수로 주로 뛰면서 올해 공격적인 측면에서 훌륭한 스탯을 보여주었다고 합니다. 하지만 수비력이 떨어져서 내년 백업 로스터 경쟁에서 이길수 있을지 모르겠네요.)

11. Tim Federowicz
The catcher from the University of North Carolina came with Juan Rodriguez from Boston in a three-team deal last July. His glove will get him to the big leagues. He’s an outstanding defender who has thrown out 33 percent of would-be basestealers in his career. Although he’s hit in the Minors, with decent averages and a little pop, most see him more as a glove-first backup. Federowicz was called up for the first time on August 4. (수비형 포수 유망주라고 하는군요. 내년에 다저스 로스터에 포함이 될 수 있을지 모르겠습니다. 엘리스 백업으로 베테랑을 원할것 같은데...)

12. Alex Santana
The son of former big league shortstop Rafael Santana, Alex was one of the youngest players in the 2011 Draft class. He has hands like his dad, but he has the chance to have a much better bat. He’s also too big to play shortstop, with the Dodgers moving him over to third. He should have the bat to profile just fine at the hot corner, though it may take him a while to grow into his power. Santana started the season with Rookie League Ogden. He was sent to the Arizona League on July 27. (올해 마이너리그에서 보여준 것이 뭐가 있닫고 12위인지 모르겠네요. 그냥 신체조건만 좋다.)

13. Josh Wall
It looks like Wall had to take a step back in order to take two steps forward. After two years of floundering in the California League, the big right-hander went back down to the Midwest League in 2010 and somewhat righted the ship. In 2011, he was moved to the bullpen and jumped up two levels, putting up a solid season in relief in Double-A. He was terrific in the Arizona Fall League and was added to the 40-man roster as a result. In shorter stints, his mid-90s fastball and slider can play up, and he’s looking at a career as a setup man or perhaps even a closer – the role he served for Triple-A Albuquerque in 2012. Wall was called up to the Majors for the first time on July 14, making one appearance before returning to the Isotopes. (불펜투수 유망주로 90마일 중반의 직구와 슬라이더를 던진다고 하는군요. 하지만 메이저리그에서 보여준 것이 없어서...)

14. Scott Van Slyke
Some may have given up on Andy’s son, but six years after being drafted, he started to figure things out at the plate, leading the Southern League and his organization in average, while finishing second in the circuit in OPS in 2011. He might be considered old to be a “prospect” by some, but he followed up his breakout 2011 season with another good one at Triple-A Albuquerque in 2012 and got his first crack at the big leagues in May when Juan Rivera was put on the disabled list. He got called up again on June 28, returning to Albuquerque on July 14. (메이저리그에서 보여준 것이 부족해서...전형적인 AAAA형 선수가 될 듯 싶네요)

15. Garrett Gould
The Dodgers brought Gould along slowly, but when they finally introduced him to full-season ball in 2011, he certainly seemed ready. The right-hander was a Midwest League All-Star and led the system in ERA (2.40) in 2011, but he saw his numbers take a hit in the Cal League in 2012. He won’t light up the radar gun, but he has a good three-pitch mix and knows how to use it. His curve can be a plus pitch and he's got a changeup to back up the fastball. Without the plus fastball, people will want to see how he fares against more advanced hitters (평균자책점이 높아서 그렇지 이정도까지 떨어질 성적을 보여주지는 않았는데...이미 트래이드 루머에 한번 쌓였던 선수라...언제 다저스를 떠나도 이상할 것이 없다고 생각을 합니다.)

16. Blake Smith
A sports hernia kept him off the field for a chunk of the 2011 season, but when he was on, he started to put his considerable offensive tools to good use. Smith has above-average raw power from the left side of the plate, and although he may never hit for a high average, he did cut down his strikeout rate last year. He still has the chance to be a good power-hitting right fielder at the highest level, though he’ll have to show he can do it at the upper levels first. A two-way player in his college days, he could always head back to the mound if all else fails. (아직도 투수로 전향할 가능성이 언급이 되는군요. 공 던진것이 기억도 나지 않을듯 싶은데..일단 시즌 초반에는 좀 쳤는데..시즌 후반기에는 좀 쳐지더군요. 일단 내년  AAA팀에서 장타는 좀 만들어 내겠지만..메이저리그에서 보기는 힘들듯..)

17. Jesmuel Valentin
Valentin has MLB bloodlines, with his father Jose having spent 16 years in the big leagues. Jesmuel plays the game the right way as a result, a hard worker who’s instincts allow his tools to play up across the board. He played a lot of second at the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy because of the presence of No. 1 pick Carlos Correa, but he has the skills to play shortstop, and that’s where the Dodgers played him during his summer debut in the rookie-level Arizona League. Relatively new to switch-hitting, he’s a natural righty with good plate discipline who can send line drives all over the field. Valentin does have some pop and can hit the ball out of the park from time to time. At best he’s an everyday shortstop or maybe a solid second baseman. At worst, he’s a very good utility man who finds a way to get his bat into the lineup. (미국 무대 첫해라 그런지....올해 좋은 모습을 보여주지 못했는데...내년부터가 진정한 승부라고 봐야겠죠. 1994년생이니..여기 언급된 카를로스 코레아도 올해 마이너리그에서 부진했습니다.)

18. Jose Dominguez
The young Dominican right-hander made his full-season debut in 2012 and seems to be settling into a bullpen role nicely. The Dodgers did give him a handful of starts with Great Lakes in the Midwest League, but the power arm didn’t throw well in that role. Out of the pen, however, his stuff has played up. Working largely in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, he’s missed plenty of bats with a fastball that consistently sits in the 96-100 mph range. He combines it with a good power breaking ball, more than enough to succeed in short relief. (제 기억에...다저스가 거지 시절에..3만인가...5만달러가 주고 계약했던 선수로 알고 있는데 구속이 96~100마일 수준에서 형성이 된다고 하는군요. 40인 로스터에 넣을듯 싶네요.)

19. Jarret Martin
The big lefty came to the Dodgers last offseason in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles that sent Dana Eveland to the O’s. The junior college product has moved a bit slowly, spending his second season at the Class A level. But there’s a lot to like here, beginning with a fastball that tops out at 97 mph. Martin couples that with a hard breaking ball. Command continues to be an issue, and he'll have to cut his walk rate down as he moves up the ladder. After two outstanding months to start the 2012 season, Martin struggled more in June before landing on the DL at the end of the month. (최고 97마일의 직구를 던진다고 하네요. 문제는 역시나 커맨드...후반기에는 부상으로 출장 경기수 자체가 많지 않았습니다.)

20. Alfredo Silverio
Silverio had his best statistical season in 2011, banging out 76 extra-base hits while playing in Double-A full time for the first time. The toolsy outfielder also homered in the Futures Game and has always shown glimpses of the tools to make him a very good right fielder, though he’s played all three outfield positions. This could have been a big year for Silverio, but it was over before it started. First, he missed time because of a concussion. Then he needed Tommy John surgery in May, knocking him out for the remainder of the season. (토미 존 수술로 시즌 접었는데...현재 분위기상 뛸 자리도 없어 보이네요. 내년 시즌 초반에 폭발해서 트래이드 카드로라도 사용할수 있었으면 좋겠네요.)
