한 달 후에 훈련 재개

The Los Angeles Dodgers will begin the season without right-hander Vicente Padilla, but club officials are hopeful after Padilla underwent surgery on Thursday to free a nerve that was trapped by a muscle in his right forearm that he could begin playing catch before the end of spring training.

The surgery was performed in Los Angeles by team physician Dr. Neal ElAttrache and Dr. Steve Shin, who conveyed the results to Dodgers trainer Stan Conte at Camelback Ranch.

"Stan said it went well," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "[Padilla] is supposed to be back in Arizona sometime [on Friday], and he'll start the rehab process. What I got was that his best outlook is three or four weeks, then he'll start tossing."

Because this type of surgery is so rare among pitchers, there are no plans for how long the rehabilitation will last. Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said Wednesday, the day before the surgery, that he had been given reason to believe Padilla would return sometime during the season's first half.

The Dodgers' original plan before the start of spring training was to build up Padilla's innings like a starter even though he was slated to begin the season in the bullpen. Mattingly said that won't be a factor in Padilla's rehab and he will prepare during that time to pitch as a reliever, a plan that in theory should allow him to return sooner.

물론 투수로써 흔하지 않는 부상부위이기때문에 수술이전에는 확실한 타임테이블이 알려지지 않았지만, 일단 수술결과로는 긍정적이라고 하는군요.

일단 이렇게 된 마당에 당장 파디야없는 상황을 생각해야하는데, 메팅리에 따르면 잰슨(Kenley Jansen)은 확실하게 빅리그에서 시즌을 시작할 것이라고 하는군요. 지금 생각으로는 7회 릴리프로 등판하게 되는데, 만약 쿼홍치를 쓰지 못하고, 브락스턴이 사흘 연속으로 등판할 경우에는 8회 셋업맨으로 나올 수도 있다고 합니다. 만약 잰슨이 8회에 나온다면 게리어(Matt Guerrier)가 마무리로 나올거 같습니다.

또한 메팅리는 블레이크를 외야수로써 바라보고 있다는군요. 다만 어제 거닉의 기사에 따르면 케롤(Jamey Carroll)의 경우 선발보다는 백업맴버로 바라보고 있다고 했는데, 블레이크를 외야로 보낸다면 유리베(Juan Uribe)가 3루로 나와야하고 케롤이 2루수로 나와야겠죠.

이에 대해 블레이크는 메팅리와의 대화에서 자신은 밤경기 이후에 낮경기가 펼쳐지는 날에도 쉬고 싶지는 않다고 하는군요. 물론 첫 달에는 이것저것 시험해보고 싶긴하지만, 결국 자신은 매일매일 경기에 출전하고 싶다고 하네요. 그리고 메팅리가 외야로 바라본 것이외에 로니의 휴식일에도 1루수로써 출전하는데에는 내키지는 않지만, 매일 출전한다면 그것 별로 문제삼고 싶지 않다고 하네요. 다만 자신은 everyday 3루수가 되고 싶다고 하네요.

Asked for a breakout pitcher on his staff, Pirates catcher Chris Snyder picked James McDonald.
떠난 선수에 대해 약간 언급하자면, 스나이더가 올해 브레이크아웃시즌을 보낼 것으로 예상되는 투수로써 맥도날드(James McDonald)를 언급했네요. 다저스와 같은 빅마켓(?)구단에서는 조급함을 느껴 제대로된 기회를 주지 못했는데, 벅스에서라도 잘되었음 좋겠네요. 그러고보니 맥도날드 이전에도 기회를 많이 못줬지만, 기회를 부여받고 잘된 선수가 잭슨(Edwin Jackson)이죠.

저는 이번 오프시즌에 꽉 체운 5선발 + 스윙맨(파디야)를 데려온 것은 제 2, 제 3의 잭슨을 생산해내지 않겠다는 의지의 무브였다고 생각됩니다. 즉, 루비 데 라 로사(Rubby De La Rosa)의 경우 다저스가 릴리(Ted Lilly)나 구로다(Hiroki Kuroda)와 재계약을 하지 않았다면 시즌중에 올라올 수도 있었을 선수라고 봤고, 앞서 언급된 잭슨과 맥도날드처럼 조급증을 낸다면 트레이드를 시켜버릴수도 있기때문에 그런 생각자체를 미연에 방지하기 위한 재계약일 수도 있지않을까 싶습니다.

물론 당장 빅리그팀에 선발자원이 필요했기에 재계약을 했다는것이 더 옳은 표현이겠지만, 그에 따른 부수적인 재발방지도 어쩌면 포함되어있지않았을까 하네요.

맥도날드 얘기는 짧게 하려했는데, 글쓰다가 갑자기 '여인의 향기'에서 알 파치노가 학교에서 오도넬을 증언하는 장면이 갑자기 떠올라 얘기가 장황하게 흘렀습니다.

The Dodgers like what they have seen from pitching prospect Rubby De La Rosa so far. They just want to see more.

"There's been a lot of talk about him. His stuff has been electric but again, he's a younger guy that is coming. But he's got to keep proving so I don't want to anoint anybody," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "We have good reports about Rubby and he obviously has a bright future, but he has to continue to go out and get better and improve."

Last year, De La Rosa went a combined 7-2 with six saves and a 2.37 ERA in 22 games (13 starts) with Double-A Chattanooga and Class A Great Lakes and was named the organization's Minor League Pitcher of the Year. He opened the season as a reliever but was moved to the starting rotation and earned a promotion to Double-A by going 3-0 with a 1.67 ERA.

"It was a great experience last season because I was around a lot of players that know baseball and I learned a lot," said De La Rosa, who will turn 22 a week from Friday. "I worked very hard to be here. They tell me they have big plans for me. For me, my goal this year is to start the season with the big league team."
루비 데 라 로사의 올시즌 목표는 시즌을 빅리그에서 시작하고 싶은거라는군요. 꿈이 참 야무지네요.

With split-squad Cactus League openers awaiting the Dodgers on Saturday afternoon, Mattingly said he, bench coach Trey Hillman and third-base coach Tim Wallach will go to Scottsdale, where the Dodgers will face the World Series champion San Francisco Giants. The regular starting infield of Loney, second baseman Juan Uribe, third baseman Casey Blake and shortstop Rafael Furcal also are expected to make that trip.

"I just want to keep the three of us together so we can get into a rhythm with signs and everything," Mattingly said.

Triple-A Albuquerque manager Lorenzo Bundy will manage the other half of the team, which will play the Los Angeles Angels in Tempe. The starting outfield of Matt Kemp in center, Andre Ethier in right and, presumably, Tony Gwynn Jr. in left will play in that game.

Hiroki Kuroda and non-roster invitee Tim Redding are the starting pitchers, but Mattingly wasn't sure which game each will go to. Starters generally pitch two innings in their first Cactus League appearances of the spring.
스프링 캠프 첫 경기부터 split-squad games으로 펼쳐지는데, 밑에 언급했던 것이외에 추가소식이 나왔네요. 일단 SF와의 경기에서는 메팅리감독에 힐먼 벤치코치, 월랙 3루 베이스코치가 동행하고, 로니(James Loney)와 유리베, 블레이크, 퍼칼(Rafael Furcal)이 동행했다고 합니다. 선수들의 리듬감을 찾기 위함이라고 하네요.

엔젤스와의 경기에는 로렌조 번디(Lorenzo Bundy) 트리플 A감독이 이날 임시감독으로 간다고 하는군요. 선수로는 이띠어(Andre Ethier)와 캠프(Matt Kemp)와 그윈 주니어(Tony Gwynn Jr.)가 선발로 각각 나온다고 합니다. 이띠어의 경우 자신이 팀의 리더로써 충분히 그것을 받아들일 수있다고 하더군요.

그리고 각 경기에 선발로 등판할 구로다와 레딩(Tim Redding)의 경우 2이닝씩 소화하며, 구로다 이후에는 일라이(John Ely)와 링크(Jon Link)가 각각 등판한다고 합니다.
