With Manny Ramirez's situation far from resolved, the Dodgers are focusing on adding pitching, in particular left-hander Randy Wolf, according to sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity because negotiations are ongoing.
Wolf, who grew up in the San Fernando Valley, pitched for the Dodgers in 2007. He was 9-6 with a 4.73 earned-run average but suffered a shoulder injury in July that required season-ending surgery. The 32-year-old started last season with the San Diego Padres and ended it with the Houston Astros, posting a 12-12 record and 4.30 earned-run average.

The Dodgers have also recently checked in with the representatives of relievers Luis Ayala and Russ Springer.
Ayala, who turns 31 in January, had a down year in 2008, posting a 5.71 earned-run average in 81 games with the Washington Nationals and New York Mets. Until last season, he had an earned-run average of 3.19 or better in each of his four previous major-league seasons.
Ayala earned $1.7 million last season.
Springer, 40, had a 2.32 earned-run average with the St. Louis Cardinals last season. He earned $3.5 million and probably will command a greater salary than the Dodgers are willing to pay.
