Great Lakes Loons starter Will Savage has been named the Midwest League's Pitcher of the Week, after pitching a seven-inning shutout against Lansing Saturday. Savage recorded six strikeouts and no walks in the win, which improved his record to 3-1 on the year and lowered his ERA to 2.17.

Savage is the first Loons pitcher to receive the weekly honor this week. The Loons face Lansing at 7:05 p.m. Monday night.

Alberto Bastardo-LHP-Chattanooga Lookouts

Throwing fourteen strikeouts in as many innings, Alberto Bastardo allowed only five hits and one run in his two games Monday and Saturday. Monday night, Bastardo took his third win of the season with seven strikeouts and threw another seven Saturday night, taking his fourth win. In Monday's game, Mobile was scoreless, and on Saturday Bastardo pitched six innings before losing a hit to Carolina. Bastardo earned a 0.00 ERA for the week, tying three others in the league who only threw for half as many innings. He is working his way up to being one of the top pitchers in the league overall this season if he continues with this hot streak. Bastardo, born in Maracay, Venezuela, has been working his way through the Los Angeles Dodgers organization since 2006.

Kyle Russell earns his second Player of the Week nod, having clinched the honor for the week of April 19-25. Much as he did during that stretch, the Dodgers prospect spent this week consistently slapping out hard line drives. This time, many of them landed on the other side of Cal League fences. From Tuesday to Saturday, Russell homered in four consecutive games (he was out of the lineup Friday), driving in 14 runs in those contests. He collected five RBIs and was a triple short of the cycle on Wednesday and then repeated that performance Saturday. He cooled off with a 1-for-5, three-strikeout game Sunday, but his single did knock in a much-needed run for the 66ers, who ended up losing, 9-8, to Rancho Cucamonga. Russell's 15 RBIs led all of the Minor Leagues during the seven-day stretch.
켈리포니아 리그 이주의 타자는 카일 러셀(Kyle Russell)이 수상했습니다. 이 상은 올해 2번째라고 하는군요. 이 기간동안 러셀은 나흘 연속 홈런과 9득점 15RBI를 기록했습니다. 여전히 많은 삼진을 당하지만, 그만큼의 생산력을 보여주고 있기때문에 꾸준히 지켜봐야할 선수인거 같습니다.

현재 진행중인 오늘 경기에서도 1회초에 솔로홈런을 기록하고 3회츠에는 희생플라이로 총 2RBI째를 기록중이네요. 경기당 0.9개의 삼진으로만 떨어뜨려서 지금으로써는 감사할거 같네요.

다만 약간의 좋은 점이라고 한다면 (물론 표본을 적지만) 좌투수상대로 좋은 모습을 보여주고 있어서 이 부분에 대해서는 긍정적이네요.
