Aaron Miller didn't want his start to end after a mere 13 pitches Sunday, and maybe it didn't have to.

But when you're a prized pitching prospect, the future of an organization resting partially on the development of your left arm, you're not allowed to tempt fate with a stiff muscle.

So Miller, the Dodgers' first pick in the 2009 draft, lasted just one-third of an inning for the 66ers, providing an early turning point in a 9-8 Quakes victory in front of 1,679 at the Epicenter.

Miller was touching 90 mph on the radar gun and had allowed a walk, single and sacrifice fly to start the game. He wasn't demonstrably hurt when 66ers manager Jeff Carter and trainer Yosuke Nakajima visited him with a 1-1 count on Gabe Jacobo, the Quakes' fourth batter.

Fortunately for the team and organization, the injury turned out to be nothing serious.

"It was kind of an impingement - a sore neck," he said. "I woke up this morning and must have slept on it wrong. ... They didn't want to risk any more injury."

Before the game, Sixers manager Jeff Carter informed Quakes counterpart Keith Johnson that he might have to make an early pitching change. Miller said he felt fine warming up in the bullpen, but the pain re-emerged while he sat in the dugout during the top of the first inning.
일단 밀러는 부상에 대해서 감독에게 알렸고, 감독은 오늘 상대팀 감독에게 투수교체가 있을 수 있다고 사전에 통보를 했었다는군요. 하지만, 경기전 불펜피칭을 해본결과 괜찮아서 경기에 투입되었지만, 1회에 다시 재발했다고 하네요.

"It was bothersome, but it was something I felt like I could deal with," Miller said. "They said it was kind of obvious that things looked a little off. It's still early in the season, still early in my career."

With Miller out, the teams picked up where they left off a day earlier, turning a cold afternoon into a round of batting practice. Javier Solano came in from the bullpen and allowed six runs in the second inning as the Quakes mounted a 7-1 lead.

It was a bit of revenge for Saturday, when the 66ers scored 10 runs in the first inning en route to a 16-5 victory. Only this game would be closer, with the Sixers pulling to within 8-7 in the fifth inning and coming within inches of tying the score in the eighth.

With two outs and Anthony Hatch on third base and Travis Denker on first, Steven Caseres deposited a single just inside the left-field line. Hatch scored to make it 9-8.

Carter, coaching third base, waved Denker home. A near-perfect throw was needed and left fielder Angel Castillo delivered, with Quakes catcher Beau Brooks reaching into foul territory to tag Denker.

Brooks and Roberto Lopez homered in the Quakes' big second inning.

Inland Empire will play the finale of their four-game series with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes Monday at 7:05 PM. Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Charlie Haeger will be making another rehabilitation appearance for the 66ers Monday. Haeger with Inland Empire this year has started two games and is 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA.
한편 내일 인랜드 선발은 찰리 헤거가 등판한다고 하네요. 마지막 리헵이 될거 같은데, 일단 찰리 허프 투수코치에 따르면 헤거의 키킹에 문제가 있어서 그 부분에 수정을 했었다고 합니다. 내일 만약 좋은 결과가 있다면 다시 한 번 시험해 볼 가능성은 있을거 같습니다. 다만 헤거가 등판해야하는 곳이 공기밀도가 낮은 로키 마운틴이라서 깨름직할 수 있을거 같네요. 사진은 브렛 웰렉의 형인 맷 월렉

I have an inside source that says Elbert has changed his arm slot to put more sink on his fastball, that is why he struggling with control lately. Just thought I would put everyone's minds at rest. They also won't let him throw his slider much these days because they want him to throw all the pitches he can with this new arm slot.
truebluela 소식통에 따르면 스캇 엘버트(Scott Elbert)가 팔 각도(arm slot)를 바꾼다고 합니다. 오늘 경기 이전 등판경기(5.16)에서 5.1이닝동안 6BB나 허용했는데, 그것과 유사한 관계가 있는지는 모르겠으나 페스트볼을 싱커성으로 바꾼다는 글로 봐서는 투심을 던진다는 소리같아 보이네요. 아무튼 그로 인해 당분간 슬라이더를 자재할 것이라고 합니다.

Scott Elbert was finally able to control his pitches as he allowed just one walk in 6 innings of work.  He also limited the 51’s to 4 hits and 2 runs while striking out 5, so this was probably Elbert’s best game since his first start of the season.
제가 너무 호들갑 떠는건 아닌지 모르겠지만, 그 결과가 당장 오늘부터 나타났습니다. 엘버트는 6이닝동안 단 1BB(5K)로 제한하면서 4피안타 2실점만 허용했습니다. 엘버트는 올시즌 8번을 선발등판했는데, 올시즌 최고의 피칭을 오늘 보여줬습니다. 첫 등판이었던 4월 9일에 6이닝동안 2피안타 무실점 10K를 잡아내긴 했지만, 볼넷이 무려 5개나 허용했기때문에 오늘의 성적이 더 좋은게 아닐까 싶네요.

The Albuquerque Isotopes placed popular shortstop Chin-Lung Hu on the Disabled List with a broken nose recently.

Hu suffered the injury at the Albuquerque area home he's staying in. It's unknown how exactly he broke it.

The injury comes as a bad time because Hu was getting hot at the plate. In recent weeks, his batting average ballooned from the .220s to .291.
최근에 역전 3런홈런을 시즌 첫 홈런으로 신고했던 후친렁이 코가 부러지는 부상을 당해서 DL에 올랐다고 합니다. 이 무브로 인해 엘버커키 유격수(or 2루수)가 필요한 상황에서 인랜드에서 리헵중이었던 저스틴 셀러스(Justin Sellers)가 콜업되었습니다.

지난 등판에서 레인딜레이로 인해 2이닝만 던졌던 위드로우(Chris Withrow)가 위와 같은 성적을 오늘 기록했습니다. 볼넷이 여전히 많기때문에 5이닝을 갖 넘길때 벌써 100개근처의 투구수를 기록했던 모양입니다. 아직까지 살아났다고 말하긴 뭣하고 여전히 롤러코스터를 타고 있네요.

경기는 필드에 나온 대부분의 선수가 에러를 기록하면서 답답한 경기를 펼쳤지만, 9회말에 코리 스미스(Corey Smith)가 walk-off GS을 치는 바람에 켈리 얀센이 AA 첫 승을 기록하게 되었습니다. 얀센은 오늘도 실점을 했는데, 공식기록으로는 3경기중에 2경기에서 실점을 허용했네요. 첫 등판에서는 선행투수의 주자를 득점시켰죠.

일단 에러부분에서는 디 고든을 주목해봐야 할거 같습니다. 41경기째인데, 벌써 13개의 에러는 결코 쉽게 생각해봐야할 부분은 아닌거 같습니다.

아메자가가 DL로 올라가면서 하비 가르시아(Harvey Garcia)를 콜업시켰는데, 하루만에 방출시켜버렸습니다. 이럴꺼면 왜 콜업시켰는지 모르겠네요. 가르시아를 대신해서 존 후버(Jon Huber)와 오늘 계약하고 바로 체터누가로 배치시켰습니다.
