Zito is coming off one of his best outings as a Giant, holding the Padres scoreless through seven in Wednesday's 2-0 win. That marked only the sixth time he'd gone at least seven shutout innings in 69 starts for San Francisco. Zito's last win, in his penultimate 2008 start, came in Dodger Stadium. Manny Ramirez, who feeds on other lefties, brings out the best in Zito, who has held him to a lifetime .222 average, albeit three of Ramirez's eight hits off him have left the park.

Further fueling speculation about the composition of the Dodgers' young starting rotation, veteran Eric Milton pitched six scoreless innings Sunday for Triple-A Albuquerque. Milton allowed only two hits one day after Jeff Weaver made his first start for Albuquerque. ... When James McDonald earned his first Major League victory and Ramon Troncoso his first Major League save in the same game Saturday night, it was the first time that happened for the Dodgers since Steve Schmoll and Yhency Brazoban pulled off the combination April 8, 2005, according to Elias Sports Bureau. ... Orlando Hudson went 0-for-4 with a walk on Sunday, snapping his hitting streak at 11 games. ... The 10 runs the Dodgers allowed Sunday were a season high. ... Since his two-homer game against Colorado last Sunday, Matt Kemp is 4-for-22.
어제 엘버커키의 선발 에릭 밀턴(Eric Milton)은 6이닝동안 무실점하면서 솔리드한 등판을 했다. 계약내용을 찾아보니 밀턴은 언제라도 방출을 요구할 수 있다네요. 일단 그는 스스로 한달의 데드라인을 삼았다고 합니다. 해서 자신이 솔리드하고 충분히 빅리그에서 경쟁력이 있는지를 시험해본다고 합니다. 아마 어느 순간 때가 되었다면 스스로 방출을 요구할 겁니다. 아니면 다저스가 콜업시켜주기를 기대하겠죠. 하지만 토레는 아직 그런 계획이 없다고 하네요.
O-dog의 연속안타 행진은 어제 마감되었지만 지토의 지난 등판에서 O-dog에게 사이클링 히터 제조의 중추적인 역할을 담당했었습니다. 오늘도 기대를 해 봅니다.

Well, it's not the WHOLE secret, but it's at least a part of it. It has to do with how he is hitting against left-handed pitchers, which is supposed to be a weakness for LH hitters. Ethier entered this season hitting .305 for his career against RHPs, .281 against LHPs. Last year, the difference was stark: .326 vs. RHPs, .243 vs. LHPs. Well, so far this year, he is hitting slightly HIGHER against LHPs (.316) than against RHPs (.314). He also has hit three of his five HRs and has seven of his 20 RBI against LHPs, and to put those numbers in perspective, he has 19 ABs and 21 PAs against LHPs as opposed to 51 ABs and 66 PAs against righties. He also has a ridiculous .842 slugging percentage against lefties (second in the majors) as opposed to just .510 against righties. He does have a higher OBP (.455) against righties than lefties (.381).

Here is tonight's lineup. Many of you have been clamoring to see Matt Kemp in the cleanup spot, and you are getting your wish tonight. But don't get used to it. My guess is the only reason he is there is because James Loney is sitting. Loney is 1 for 20 lifetime, albeit with six walks and no strikeouts, against Barry Zito. Kemp is 14 for 27 (.519) against him, with seven walks and only three Ks.
