Great saver Troncoso

The score may have been the same as Friday night, but tonight's 6-5 Dodger win had an entirely different backstory.

After a four-run first inning which saw the Dodger leadoff batter reach base to start the tenth consecutive game and five straight two-out hits, the Dodgers looked to put away Ubaldo Jimenez early.  However, James McDonald ran into more trouble in the third inning, walking three and allowing three runs.  After the Dodgers padded their lead to 6-3, all McDonald had to do was last through five to qualify for his first major league win.

Well, that didn't come easy either.  After settling down, McDonald allowed a two-run homer to Garrett Atkins in the fifth that cut the lead to 6-5.  McDonald pitched five innings, but had his third straight unimpressive start.  McDonald has seemed good out of the gate each time he has pitched, but after his second inning he has faltered:

맥도날드가 올시즌 4경기(3선발)에 나왔는데, 첫 2이닝의 결과는 위의 표처럼 아주 깔끔합니다. 하지만, 그 이후에 2이닝은 참담하죠.
첫 선발등판경기였던 디백스 원정에서는 잘던지던 1, 2회와는 달리 3회 선두타자였던 크리스 영(Chirs Young)에게 홈런 한방을 맞고 그 이후에 급격한 난조로 강판당했습니다.
지난번 선발등판과 오늘 경기는 상대팀 투수에게 볼넷을 허용한 뒤 급격하게 다른 선수(Jauns)가 되어버렸습니다. 젊은 선수에게 흔히들 나타나는 현상이지만, 이럴땐 감독이나 투수코치보단 마스터같은 선수의 조언 한 마디가 아쉽네요.

Enter Ramon Troncoso.

The sinkerballing specialist came in the game in the sixth inning to protect a one-run lead, and boy did he protect it!  Troncoso pitched the final four frames to close out the win, getting eight groundball outs and a strikeout while allowing only an infield single in his 45 pitches.

Troncoso's first major league save closed out James McDonald's first major league win, and the save was a notable one.  Troncoso's masterpiece was only the 52nd four-inning save in Los Angeles Dodger history, an average of one per year.

This was the first Dodger four-inning save since Wilson Alvarez at Jacobs Field in 2003, and the first to protect a one-run lead the entire time since Jerry Reuss in April 1979.

Jeff Weaver made his first start for ABQ at New Orleans tonight, threw 60 pitches in 3 1/3 and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits with four Ks and no walks. He probably needs one more start before he is ready to come up and take the fifth spot if that's what Torre/Colletti decide to do, plus Torre really likes the idea of having McDonald in the bullpen. So McDonald might be pitching to stay in the rotation the next time out.
오늘 제프 위버가 엘버커키 선발로 나와서 3.1이닝동안 4피안타 2실점으로 좋은 투구를 했나 봅니다. 한 번쯤 더 선발로 나오고 경쟁력을 시험할 모양입니다. 만약 그게 증명된다면 토레가 바라는 맥도날드의 불펜행은 현실이 될거 같습니다.
과거에 리틀 감독이 빌링슬리를 불펜에 두어 그의 선발행을 바라는 많은 팬들에게 지탄을 받은 적이 있는데, 개인적으로 맥도날드는 올시즌 불펜에서 스윙맨 역활을 시키는 미네소타의 가든하이어 감독 스타일로 그의 자신감과 빅리그에서의 경험을 축척하는 한해가 되었으면 합니다.

Big night for Russell Martin, who had been slumping but broke out in a big way, tying his career high with four RBI on a pair of two-run singles. It was his sixth career four-RBI game, first of the season.
Dodgers go to 13-5 and move 2 1/2 up on the Pods. Dodgers now share the best record in baseball with the Cardinals.
오늘 마틴의 4타점은 커리어 6번째 4타점 경기라고 하네요. 휴스턴전에서 굉장히 좋지않았는데 오늘 경기로 리바운딩했으면 하네요.
그리고 마틴이 작년까지 쿠어스 필드 성적이 아주 좋네요.

Clayton Kershaw against Jason Marquis tomorrow at 12:10 LaLa time. I believe I already mentioned that Furcal and Blake are sitting tomorrow. After the game, Joe told us that Manny will sit tomorrow, as well, the first time that will have happened all year. He went 0 for 5 with three Ks tonight and was uncharacteristically but clearly overswinging at times. Pierre will play LF, Castro SS and DeWitt 3B.
내일은 낮경기이고해서 퍼칼, 블레이크, 매니가 dayoff한다네요.
매니가 오늘 0-5에 3K를 했는데, 히메네즈에게 약한면도 있었지만, 택도아닌 스윙을 했다네요.
일단 내일은 피에르(LF), 카스트로(SS), 드윗(3B)가 출전할거라고 합니다.
