After giving up consecutive one-out hits in the first inning -- a solo home run by Miguel Tejada that gave the Padres a short-lived, 1-0 lead and a bloop single by Adrian Gonzalez -- Lilly retired the next 20 batters in a row, striking out five of them and allowing only four balls to be hit out of the infield. By the time he struck out Nick Hundley to end the seventh, his sixth perfect inning in a row, Lilly had thrown a total of 87 pitches, a staggering 65 of them (75 percent) for strikes.
(마침내) 다저스 데뷔전을 치른 릴리는 1회 원아웃 이후 연속 안타를 내줬지만, 그 이후 20타자를 연속으로 범타시키는 괴력을 보여줬습니다.

최고 구속이 89마일에 불과하지만, 뛰어난(outstanding) 커맨드로 20타자들 중 5K를 잡아냈고, 내야를 벗어난 타구가 4개에 불과했습니다.

보통 잘던지는 날에 비해 GO/AO비율이 반대로 나왔는데, 하지만, 이들 대부분의 공은 내야를 벗어나지 못하는 공들이 많았습니다. 그만큼 브레이킹볼에 대한 이해도가 아주 높았기에 타자들을 타이밍으로 승부하는 요령이 좋다고 할 수 있을 겁니다.

하지만, 기본적으로 다저스타선이나 컵스 타선이나 거기서 거기라서 릴리가 남은 2달동안 더 많은 승수를 쌓을지는 아주 회의적이네요. 개인적으로 시즌이 끝나기전에 2년간 15M + 1M으로 연장계약을 했으면 좋겠다는 생각이 드네요. 어차피 다저스가 연봉중재신청을 하리라고는 생각되지 않기때문에 시즌이 끝나기전에 연장계약을 제시하는것도 나쁘진 않아 보입니다. 물론 이제 35살이 되는 릴리를 생각하면 기간이나 금액을 조율할 필요는 있어보입니다만...

오늘 유일한 실점은 테하다에게 맞은 홈런인데, 이 홈런은 올시즌 릴리가 맞은 20번째 피홈런이 되었습니다.

릴리가 2001년부터 빅리그에서 선발투수를 시작했는데, 2002시즌에 15개(양키스에서 10개, 에이스에서 5개)를 제외하고 전부 한 시즌에 20개 이상의 피홈런을 기록하게 되었습니다.
기본적으로 공의 위력이 좋은 투수가 아니기때문에 컨트롤되지 못한 밋밋한 공이 들어오면 여지없이 배팅볼로 전락할 수 밖에 없는게 현실입니다.

In other injury news, it was announced during the broadcast that Rafael Furcal is day-to-day with a lower back strain, after his MRI exam today.
오늘 MRI촬영을 했던 퍼칼의 경우 결과가 좋지 않았던 모양입니다. 일단은 DTD에 올릴거라고 하는군요.

Reed Johnson went 2-for-3 with a run scored and played seven innings in center field with an outfield assist at third base for Single-A Inland Empire tonight.
오늘 두 번째 리헵을 실시했었던 리드 존슨(Reed Johnson)은 3타수 2안타 1득점을 하고 6회말 타석때 교체되었습니다. 만약 퍼칼이 DL에 올라간다면 존슨과 교체될거 같습니다. 물론 그렇게 된다면 외야수 5명, 내야수 5명의 이상한 포메이션이 탄생되겠지만....

일단 후친렁의 부상소식이 전혀 업데이트되지 않는걸로 봐서는 미약하게나마 이반 데헤수스의 콜업도 가능할 수 있지않나 하는 추측을 해 봅니다. 물론 그럴 경우 퍼칼의 부상이 심각하다는 전제가 깔려야할지도 모르겠네요.

Aaron Miller has been transferred to the Inland Empire 66ers from the Chattanooga Lookouts.
최악의 투구를 계속해서 보여주고 있는 아론 밀러가 결국은 인래드로 강등되었습니다. FIP이 높다는 얘기가 계속 흘러나왔는데, 지금껏 운으로 버티다가 드디어 터져버렸죠. 일단 내년에 다시 AA를 노리게 되겠지만, 당장은 켈리포니아리그에서 눈에 보이는 성적보다 자신의 커맨드를 가다듬었음 좋겠네요.

Chris Withrow, RHP, Los Angeles Dodgers:
Despite being a first-round pick in 2007, Withrow had just 13 innings of experience heading into the 2009 season because of hand and elbow problems. He quickly made up for lost time by reaching Double-A, striking out well more than a batter per inning and getting into the upper-90s with his fastball. He came into the 2010 season as the highest ceiling arm in the system. Back at Double-A, Withrow has been consistently inconsistent. The big league heater is certainly there, but he has trouble commanding it. Even more strike-zone issues arrive when he throws his power curve; he tends to bounce those pitches in the dirt. With a 5.05 ERA and 51 walks in 98 innings in 20 starts for Chattanooga, he’s slipped in the eyes of many scouts. It’s possible they were too high on him in the first place.

케빈 골드스타인이 최근에 위드로우(Chirs Withrow)를 관찰했던 모양입니다. 대부분의 사람들이 알고 있듯이 여전히 불규칙적인 컨트롤을 일관되게 보여주고 있다네요. 파워커브를 던질때 커맨드가 막장수준인가 봅니다. 대부분의 커브가 원바운드(in the dirt)된다고 하는군요.
