Kershaw spent the winter working out in Dallas, and he said it went well, except for a mishap that ripped six inches of skin off his left shin.

Considered untouchable trade-wise, Kershaw took himself off the personal free-agent market when he proposed to Ellen Melson and set a wedding date of Dec. 4. His fiancee, a senior at Texas A&M, spends part of each summer on a religious aid mission to Zambia for "Camp Life."

Kershaw would like to join her someday, but right now he's on a different mission. He said that this spring is like last spring in that he still must win a job and can't be complacent. He's not concerned about being considered the ace and said that receiving the Opening Day nod would be a "huge honor."
커쇼가 올해 12월 4일에 결혼한다고 합니다. 이미 청혼은 했다고 하는데, 상대는 Teas A&M의 4학년(senior가 3학년인지 헷깔리네요)에 재학중인 엘런 맬슨(Ellen Melson)이라고 하네요.

얘는 나이가 몇살이나 되었다고...ㅡ.ㅡ;; 갑자기 뒷꼴이 땡기네요.

커쇼나이대가 대충 미국의 대학 졸업예정자 나이대와 비슷한데, 미국의 초1류급 대학출신자들의 평균 연봉이 4~6만달러임을 생각해볼때 이미 커쇼는 많은 연봉을 받고 있은 셈이 되겠죠. 뭐 물론 운동선수와 일반 직장인을 비교한다는 것이 조금은 다른 카테고리일 수도 있겠지만....

The Dodgers will broadcast about two-thirds of their games on Prime Ticket, will air about one-third of their games on KCAL 9 and will be featured on several national and regional telecasts on Fox and ESPN for the 2010 season.

Saturday Fox Channel 11 games are scheduled for April 17 against San Francisco, May 22 against Detroit, June 19 at Boston, June 26 at the New York Yankees,  July 10 against the Chicago Cubs, July 17 at St. Louis, July 24 against the New York Mets, July 31 at San Francisco, and Sept. 18 against Colorado. A July 11 game against the Cubs will be on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball.

Additional games during the season may be selected for Fox national or ESPN broadcasts.
다저스의 올해 방송사 스케줄이 나왔습니다. 다저스 경기의 2/3은 Prime Ticket에서, 1/3은 KCAL9에서 중계할 예정이며, FSN과 ESPN을 통해서 몇 경기가 전국으로 중계될 예정이라고 하는군요.

FSN은 보통 토요일에 전국중계를 하는데, 다저스의 경기는 11경기가 잡혔다고 합니다.

Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully,entering his 61st season as the “Voice of the Dodgers,” will call all televised Dodgers home games. He'll also handle the road telecasts against the team’s National League West and American League West Division opponents. Scully’s 60 years of service constitute the longest tenure of any broadcaster in sports history.
올해도 여전히 다저스의 목소리(Voice of the Dodgers)인 빌 스컬리(Vin Scully)옹께서 중계를 맡을 예정이지만, 다저스의 홈경기와 NL 서부지구와 AL 서부지구 원정경기만 참여한다고 합니다.

근대 AL 서부지구라함은 텍사스도 포함된다는 얘기인데, 거리상 텍사스의 알링턴이나 휴스턴이나 거기서 거기인데, 일단 고령의 나이이다 보니 그렇게 하기로 한 모양입니다.

For road games against non-NL West opponents, the broadcast booth will be manned by former major leaguer Steve Lyons, who is returning for his sixth season as an analyst on Dodgers telecasts, and Eric Collins,who joined the broadcast team last season after five years with ESPN calling college football, baseball and softball.
그외에 원정경기에서의 중계는 스티브 라이언(Steve Lyons)과 에릭 콜린스(Eric Collins)씨가 담당할 것이라고 하네요. 콜린스는 작년부터 다저스의 원정중계를 담당했었죠. 작년에 징크스처럼 초반에 콜린스씨의 원정중계때 승률이 좋지 못했는데, 올해는 어떻게 될지 흥미롭네요. 이게 따로 확률치를 계산하지 못해서 선입견일수도 있겠지만, NBA의 경우는 그런 표본이 있습니다. 예를 들어 유타 제즈(Utah Jazz)의 경우는 TNT가 중계할때는 승률이 50%라고 하죠. 뭐 유타의 경우는 전국구 인기구단이 아니기때문에 TNT 중계를 배정받는 일이 잘 없긴 합니다.

Eric Gagne, trying to find the magic after 2 1/2 years of injuries, has been working with bullpen coach Ken Howell, who has been studying and comparing game video of Gagne dating back to his glory days with the Dodgers.

"We're finding that I got into a lot of bad habits and it's my release point, I've been cutting across my body and not getting full extension," said Gagne. "It's been a while since I've been healthy. I can feel it when I fly open, but it helps when he gives me keys to watch for. A lot of it is thought process -- stay back, stay tall, stay on the rubber. That's what he's helping me with."
에릭 가니에는 불펜 코치인 캔 하웰(Ken Howell)과 같이 비디오도 보면서 훈련중인데, 과거 좋았던 시절의 비디오를 보면서 자신의 잘못된 버릇과 릴리스포인트를 바로잡는데 촛점을 두고 있다고 합니다.

작년에 모타(Guillermo Mota)도 비디오를 통해서 나빠졌던 구위가 잠시 잠깐 회복된 적이 있죠. 긍정적인 결과가 될거 같습니다.

Visa problems are commonplace in baseball and nobody seemed to mind when reliever Ronald Belisario was late to camp last Spring. The difference this Spring is that Belisario is on the Major League roster, he's out of options and the rest of baseball knows how good he is.

Belisario is one of a handful of Dodgers out of options -- so are Eric Stults, Hong-Chih Kuo and Charlie Haeger. But if Belisario is missing long enough and he's not ready to start the season on time, the Dodgers have a big problem. He can't be sent to the Minor Leagues without clearing waivers, and there's no chance he would clear after the way he pitched last year. That's why management is so annoyed that he's not in camp, although manager Joe Torre said he's expected within a few days.

Not having any options remaining is also the reason the Dodgers will look long and hard at Stults and Haeger for either the fifth starter job or, in Haeger's case, long relief.

Carlos Monasterios and Armando Zerpa, as Rule 5 picks, are in similar situations in that they are likely to be lost if they don't make the Opening Day roster. Maybe that's why Torre was paying special attention to Monasterios during his bullpen session Wednesday.
여전히 비자문제로 스프링 캠프에 참가하지 못하고 있는 베리사리오(Ronald Belisario)의 경우는 이미 토레가 얘기한 내용이지만, 이번 주말쯤에 합류할 것이라고 합니다. 다만 그의 복귀가 늦어지면 몸 만드는데 지장이 있을 수 있다는 얘기입니다. 몸 만드는데 지장이 생기면 보통 서비스타임이 적은 선수일 경우 마이너에서 몸을 추가적으로 만들수도 있지만, 마이너FA로 작년에 계약한 그이기때문에 더 이상의 마이너옵션이 존재하지 않습니다.

해서 (최악의 경우) 그를 어떻게 해야할지 모르는 입장이 될 수도 있다는 경고성 코멘트같아보이는데, 일단 그정도의 수준까지는 아니지만, 이들 외에 오프닝 데이 로스터에 필히 집어넣어야 할 선수는 베리사리오 외에도 4명이 추가적으로 더 있다는 것이 문제입니다.

알려진대로 마이너 옵션이 없는 에릭 스털츠(Eric Stults)와 찰리 헤거(Charlie Haeger)가 있으며 지난 12월에 룰 5 드레프트로 영입한 카를로스 모나스테리오스(Carlos Monasterios)와 아만도 제르파(Armando Zerpa)가 있습니다. 이 중에 제르파는 원소속팀(보스턴)으로 다시 갈거 같다는 생각이 강하게 드네요.
