다저스, 코레이아를 쫓을까?

Right-hander Kevin Correia accepted a below-market contract to play for his hometown Padres last season, signing a one-year, $750,000 contract.

He is less inclined to make the same move again.

The Padres want to sign Correia at a discount, according to a major-league source. If no agreement is reached by Saturday, the team likely will decline to offer him a contract.

Correia, who went 12-11 with a 3.91 ERA in 33 starts last season, would be one of the more attractive "non-tender" free agents. He benefited from pitching at Petco Park, but his ERA at home was only a half-run per game lower than it was on the road.

For teams in need of rotation help — the Dodgers, Mets and Brewers come to mind — he would be a good fit.

물론 홈/어웨이 성적에 약간의 차이(3.68/4.18ERA)가 있는데다가 사실상 올시즌이 그의 첫 풀타임 선발이었다는 것이 걸리긴 합니다.
만약 그가 논텐더가 된다면 다저스 이외에 메츠, 밀워키, 텍사스가 쫓을 것이라고 하는군요.
코레이아 입장에서는 내년 시즌 후 FA가 되기때문에 자신의 커리어를 위해서라도 (다소) 투수들의 무덤인 텍사스행은 부정적이지 않을까 하는 얘기가 나오는가운데, 그가 홈타운과 많이 벗어난 지역을 선호하지 않는다면 다저스가 그에게 최적의 조건과 환경을 제시해 줄 것입니다.
