Matching Up With The Cardinals: Fielding And Baserunning

Everybody focuses on the pitching and hitting aspects of baseball, but fielding and baserunning are the often overlooked parts of the game.

Fielding and baserunning metrics are less reliable and less concrete than the metrics for hitting and fielding, so instead of breaking things down individually, i'll look at a more general picture.
야구에 있어 투수력과 타력이 차지하는 비중은 크지만 수비와 주루플레이도 게임에 중요한 요소로 작용되곤 한다. 이 두가지 가치는 물론 약간 믿을 수 없고 명확하지가 않다는 점이 있긴 하다.

Defense

The Dodgers total -10.7 UZR/150 but 13.6 Plus Minus/1350, which speaks to the inconsistency in the metrics that I mentioned. Still, there are some general conclusions that can probably be derived from this information.

Kemp is a good center fielder who is flanked by two below average corner outfielders in Manny and Ethier. Furcal has been much better after back surgery, Loney is about an average defender, and Blake has amazingly had a resurgence with the glove. Overall though, you're forced to see the Dodgers as a fringe average defensive team. Martin's play behind the plate helps a lot, as the study i've done (and continued) has proven to me that he's a good catch and throw guy with a solid defensive game. Unfortunately, even assuming that, the Dodgers are still in the position where it's most likely that their defense won't hurt their chances, but it probably won't help a whole lot either.
캠프는 외야에 허접한 수비수 2명을 보필하고 있으며, 등부상에서 완치된 퍼칼과 수비에서 좋은 모습을 보인 블레이크, 평균적인 1루수인 로니, 공격력에서 삽질을 했지만 수비에 있어 개선된 모습을 보여준 마틴은 다저스를 좋은 수비로 이끌었다.
 
The Cardinals have two weaknesses in their defense : Schumaker at second base and DeRosa and third. Unfortunately for the Dodgers, the rest of the team is above average, which leads to them totaling 18.1 UZR/150 and 40.4 Plus Minus/1350. Ryan is an absolute wizard at short, and Rasmus does an excellent job patrolling center. Pujols, Holliday, and Ludwick are around the average to above average range. As for Molina, i've seen nothing to dissuade me from believing his defensive reputation of excellence.
카즈의 약점은 2루와 3루인데, 그 외에는 평균 이상의 수비를 지녔으며, 다저스와 비교했을때도 UZR/150과 PM/1350수치가 아주 좋다. 라이언과 라스무스는 자신들의 포지션에서 아주 좋은 모습을 보여줬고, 푸올스 & 할러데이 & 루드윅은 평균이상의 수비를 자랑하고 있다. 몰리나는 그냥 스킵하자.

Baserunning

Baserunning is even harder for me to evaluate statistically, because I struggled in converting it to a rate statistic. I'll give it a go though.

The Cardinals are good baserunning team despite their lack of overall team speed. Rasmus can run, but I wouldn't describe anybody else on that team as a burner from my viewpoint. It's amazing considering they still manage to be well into the positives on the bases.
카즈는 스피드를 보유한 팀은 아니지만 전체적으로 좋은 주루플레이를 보여줬다.

Like the Cardinals, the Dodgers don't have many burners besides Kemp and Furcal. However, they too seem to get the most out of their speed, with only Loney and Manny ranking as true plodders. If you're interested in knowing more, I have a post with more depth to it here.
전체적으로 다저스는 캠프와 퍼칼 이외에 좋은 베이스러너가 없지만, 로니와 매니를 제외하곤 그럭저럭 괜찮은 편이다.
