매니 다저스와 만날 것이다

Manny Ramirez is likely to meet with his Dodgers teammates during their weekend series at Florida, according to a report.

Citing a source, ESPN reported early Friday morning that Ramirez would meet with manager Joe Torre and the team on Friday as they open their three-game series against the Marlins. It has not yet been determined exactly when such a meeting would occur, the source told ESPN.
현재 구단주, GM, 토레와만 대화를 했던 매니가 내일부터 시작되는 마이에미 원정에서 다저스선수들과 만날 가능성이 있다고 ESPN이 여러 소스를 인용해서 보도되고 있습니다.
사과라는 표현을 언론에서 많이 쓰는데, 토레는 그런건 필요없다고 하더군요. 제가 봐도 그런거까지 슈퍼스타에게 바라는건 무리가 아닐까 싶습니다. 일단 팀메이트와의 컨택이 중요한듯...

매니가 사용한 약물에는 HCG(human chorionic gonadotropin)가 사용되지 않았다고 하네요. 사실 이건게 중요할까 싶네요. 이미 50경기 출장정지 처분중인데...

Long before many of the Dodgers straggle into the visitors' clubhouse in Miami this afternoon, Russell Martin and Brad Ausmus will have already gone to work. In what has become a ritual before the start of a new series, the two catchers will find a table in a quiet corner of the clubhouse and begin poring over color-coded cards that detail the tendencies of the opposing team's hitters.

"It's just like doing homework with a buddy," Martin said. "It's brutal when you do it by yourself. But if you have somebody to do it with, it makes it a lot better."
마틴이 어스무스에게 배우는거 같은 느낌의 기사입니다. 일단 두 선수는 새로운 시리즈의 시작시에는 항상하는 거 같네요. 아무래도 상대 타자분석에 촛점을 맞추겠죠. 얼마전에 마틴이 슬럼프를 겪을때도 토레는 그가 타격이 아닌 포수로써의 임무에 (너무) 충실하다보니 생긴 결과라는 말한 적이 있는데...
요즘은 타격도 살아나고, 가끔 정신줄 놓고 무더기 도루허용만 하지 않았음하네요.

Minor trouble

Xavier Paul batted only four times in his first week in the major leagues, and if the Dodgers can't find regular playing time for him soon, they may send him back to triple-A Albuquerque to keep him from rusting on their bench.

"It's definitely an issue," Torre said. "If we sense that he's not getting enough at-bats, then chances are that we'll flop [him] with somebody else."

That may be difficult to do now that Jason Repko, the most obvious candidate to replace Paul, has a severely strained left hamstring, the same hamstring that caused him to miss the 2007 season.

Paul, a .288 career hitter in six-plus minor league seasons, was batting .344 when he was called up to take Ramirez's place on the roster.

"How far he's come in a year, you certainly don't want to lose that," Torre said.
매니가 출장정지 처분을 받고 급히 콜업된 자비어 폴은 여태껏 단 4번의 타격만을 했고, 이는 결코 선수본인에게 좋은 소식은 아닐겁니다. 토레 역시 이런식이면 차라리 마이너에서 타격기회를 더 잡는게 났다고 하네요. 이럴때 하루 정도 휴식형식으로 이띠어를 빼보는건 어떨까 싶은데...

FLA: RHP Chris Volstad (2-2, 2.98 ERA)
Volstad tossed his fourth straight quality start Sunday, but he took the loss for a second successive outing. He hasn't won since April 14, his second start of the season. The 22-year-old made his first Major League start against the Dodgers last July 11, and it was a beauty. He tossed 8 2/3 innings of one-run ball, holding Los Angeles to five hits and one walk while striking out six. It's the closest Volstad has come to a complete game in his young big league career.
기억하고 계신 분들이 계신가 모르겠네요. 볼스테드의 데뷔전이 바로 다저스전이었죠. 그때 같이 시청했던 기억이 나는군요. 왜 다저스는 초짜에게 약할까...하면서...그랬던 이 루키가 플로리다의 선발 한 축을 담당하게 되었네요. 물론 그때 당시 기억으로도 큰키에서 내려꼿는 페스트볼과 낙차 큰 커브가 상당히 인상에 남았고, 아직도 기억하고 있는데...
볼스테드가 올시즌 7번의 선발등판을 했는데, 3개이상의 BB를 내준 경기에서 내용이 좋지 않더군요. 이게 key point가 될 수도 있어 보입니다.
