The Dodgers have purchased the minor-league contract of Eric Milton, who will start Saturday's game in place of Jeff Weaver. James McDonald and his 6.75 ERA have been sent to Albuquerque. After being sent to the bullpen, McDonald allowed one earned run in five appearances (4 1/3 innings). Weaver made two five-inning starts in place of McDonald. Eric Milton is heading back to the big leagues after a nearly two-year absence.
The Dodgers purchased the contract of the veteran left-hander from Triple-A Albuquerque after their 5-3, 10-inning win over the Phillies on Thursday.
Milton will start Saturday against the Florida Marlins in place of Jeff Weaver. The Dodgers optioned right-hander James McDonald (1-1, 6.75 ERA) to their Pacific Coast League club.
The 33-year-old Milton hasn't pitched in the majors since elbow ligament replacement surgery in 2007. The former All-Star is 3-2 with a 2.83 ERA in seven minor league starts. Milton has an 87-84 record in 10 major league seasons, including a no-hitter for Minnesota in 1999 against the Angels.
몇일 전에 다저스는 밀튼을 방출하고 다시 계약을 맺었습니다. 결과론적으로 새로 계약갱신을 했다는 표현이 어울리는데요. 그게 밀튼의 콜업을 예상하는 댓글도 꽤나 있었는데, 결국은 맥도날드를 엘버커키로 보내버렸습니다. 그리고 최근에 연일 호투하던 밀튼이 마지막 등판에서 2이닝만 소화한체 강판되는것도 어느정도는 커넥션이 있었던 것으로 생각되네요. 해서 이번 토요일 플로리다전에서는 위버대신 밀튼이 선발로 나온다고 하는군요.

선발투수로써 쓰일 선수를 올리고 내린 결과가 되니 맥도날드는 엘버커키에서 선발로 다시금 리바운딩할 기회를 얻었을 겁니다.

Billingsley closed the seventh by getting pinch-hitter Matt Stairs to fly out to center. Stairs ripped a solo homer in Game 4 of last year's National League Championship Series off Broxton. The shot broke a tie and gave the Phillies a 3-1 series lead.

"He was about empty at that time," Torre said, referring to the Billingsley-Stairs matchup. "Everything was all emotion."

Winning two of three was the best possible outcome, even if Billingsley was denied a victory.

"We won," Billingsley said. "That's all that matters."

Now it's on to Florida for a weekend series against the Marlins at Land Shark Stadium.

"When you do something like this on the road, it means a lot to us," Torre said. "They're a good team. They don't stop going after you."
커리어 최고 투구수를 기록했던 빌링슬리는 사실 초반에 컨트롤에 얘를 먹었습니다. 그리고 마틴이 오늘 경기에 유달리 몸쪽승부를 집착하더군요.
그리고 5월들어 등판한 3경기 모두 4개의 BB를 각각 내주면서 지속적으로 컨트롤이 문제라는 생각이 들었습니다.
6회가 끝났을때 이미 100개를 넘었고, 설마....했는데 7회초 타자로 나오더군요.
토레가 너무 부려먹는게 아닌가 하는 생각도 듭니다. 이런식으로 던지면 분명 작년처럼 막판에 힘이 떨어질텐데...

일단 빌링슬리는 상당히 쿨한 반응을 보였습니다. 이겼으면 그걸로 된거야...식이네요.
최근들어 타선의 허접한 지원과 불펜의 방화로 승리가 날아갔지만, 4월에 타선의 든든한 지원을 생각한다면 equal했다고 치고 로우처럼 헛소리 하지 않았음 하네요.
