Los Angeles Dodgers' Taiwanese pitcher Kuo Hong-chih returned to Taipei Thursday for a vacation after coming off the greatest season of his Major League Baseball (MLB) career.
쿼홍치가 어제 대만으로 돌아갔다고 합니다.

Asked if he is looking forward to becoming a closer in the coming season, Kuo said it would be great for him to remain healthy and pitch throughout the whole season.

On salary and contract issues, Kuo, who has four surgeries on his elbow, said it's up to negotiations between his agent and the Dodgers franchise.

Kuo will throw the first pitch of the opening game between Taiwan and South Korea Saturday in the 2010 Intercontinental Cup baseball tournament, which will be played at the Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium in the central city of Taichung.
일단 시즌을 마무리로 끝냈지만, 내년시즌에 마무리가 될 가능성에 대해 묻는 질문에는 그냥 시즌 내내 건강하게 피칭했다는 것이 좋다고만 말했네요.

연봉문제에 관해서는 에이전트가 할 일이라고 말을 아꼈고, 오늘 새벽에 벌어진 대륙간컵에서 출전할 것이라고 하는데, 제가 찾아본 바로는 출전하는 것을 다저스측에서 꺼린다고 하는군요. 아시아게임 역시 다저스에서 싫어한다는 군요.

"I would like to return to Taiwan at a later date next year," Kuo said at a press conference attended by some 100 reporters, alluding to his desire to have the Dodgers remain active into the post-season in 2011.
기자회견장에서 내년에는 더 늦게 대만으로 돌아오고 싶다고 말했다는군요. 이건 다저스가 플옵에 가길 원한다는 뜻이기도 하겠죠.

His ERA of 1.20 was also the lowest in franchise history for pitchers with at least 50 innings pitched, and he was nominated for the "Setup Man of the Year" award.
다저스 역사상 최소 50이닝을 투구한 투수가운데 가장 낮은 ERA를 기록했던 쿼홍치는 올해의 셋업맨 후보에도 올랐다고 합니다. 08년에 이미 수상한 바가 있습니다.

팬들과 인터넷 채팅을 했는데, 자신은 4번의 수술에도 불구하고 올시즌 좋은 피칭을 이어간데 대해서는 운이 좋았다고 했다는군요.

올해 가장 기억에 남는 순간은 7월 4일에 디백스를 상대로 3-1승리를 거둘때 2이닝동안 6K를 기록했던 것이라고 합니다.

그리고 내년에는 셋업맨과 마무리의 중간선상에 대한 자신의 직책에 대해 꺼리지는 않지만, 분명 마무리는 압박감이 존재한다고 합니다.

다저스에서는 로니, 브락스턴, 빌링슬리와 가장 친하며, 팬들의 응원이 큰힘이 되었다고(흔한 소리를) 합니다.

앞으로 빅리그에서 5~10년 정도 선수생활을 더 하고싶은 욕심이 있지만, 가장 우선순위는 팀의 승리라고 하며, 올스타전에서는 팬의 마음으로 빅네임의 선수들과 같이 사진을 찍은것에 흥분했었다고 합니다.

Two scouting director jobs were filled this week, with the Angels promoting national crosschecker Ric Wilson and the Diamondbacks hiring Brewers crosschecker Ray Montgomery. Now another has come open, as the Dodgers' Tim Hallgren is leaving the team to become a national crosschecker with the Tigers.

The position of national crosschecker typically is the second-highest in the amateur scouting department, and Hallgren will report directly to Scott Pleis, whom the Tigers promoted in August from national crosschecker to scouting director.
다저스를 떠난 홀그랜(Tim Hallgren)은 디트로이트의 전국 크로스체커가 되었다고 하는군요. 스캇 플레이스(Scott Pleis)라는 분에게 바로 보고해야한다는 말로 봐서는 왠지 다저스시절의 직급에서 낮아진 느낌이 드네요.

Hallgren's departure doesn't mean there will be a radical change in Los Angeles, because assistant GM Logan White has continued to run the team's drafts since he was promoted from scouting director in 2007. White said the Dodgers have yet to determine whether they'll replace Hallgren or restructure their scouting department.
암튼 홀그랜의 자리에 대해서는 걱정되지 않는게 지금껏 로건 화이트가 실질적인 아마추어 디럭터로 활동해왔기때문입니다. 그리고 그의 공석에 대해서 누군가를 새로 임명할지, 아니면 스카우팅부서를 제편성할지는 결정된게 없다고 하는군요.

Hallgren has been a key figure in the Dodgers' amateur scouting department since 2003 and was promoted to scouting director in 2007, when then-scouting director Logan White was given the title of assistant general manager in charge of amateur scouting. But unlike most scouting directors around baseball, Hallgren didn't actually run the Dodgers' drafts because White continued in that role even after his promotion. However, Hallgren and White appeared to work well together over the years, and publicly at least, there were never any visible signs of friction between the two of them.
토니 잭슨의 글을 조금 퍼왔는데, 일단 화이트와 홀그랜 사이에 공식적으로는 마찰은 없었다고 하는군요. 하지만, 로건 화이트가 부단장으로 승격했음에도 불구하고 계속 아마추어 스카우팅을 했고, 그 자리에는 홀그랜이 이름만 있는(바지운영자) 상태였기때문에 마찰이 없지는 않았을거 같습니다. 그리고 publicly at least란 단어를 쓴 걸로 봐서는 실질적으론 마찰이 있었다...라고 해석할 수도 있겠구요.

거닉의 트위터에 올라온 얘기인데, 앨더슨이 메츠 GM이 거의 확정적이기때문에 화이트는 다저스에 남는다고 하는군요.
