힐먼, 벤치코치 선두주자

Former Kansas City Royals manager Trey Hillman has emerged as the front-runner to be bench coach on Dodgers rookie manager Don Mattingly's staff, according to baseball sources.

The 47-year-old Hillman, who managed the Royals from 2008 until he was replaced by Ned Yost on May 13, 2010, was seen with Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti and assistant general manager Kim Ng watching an Arizona Fall League game Wednesday.

Hillman also managed the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters in the Japan League to a championship in 2006, leading to his hiring by the Royals, where he was popular with his players though the club went 152-207.

His link to Mattingly would be having managed 12 seasons in the Yankees Minor League system from 1990-2001. He spent three years playing in the Cleveland Minor League system before moving into scouting.

Larry Bowa, who came with Mattingly to be Joe Torre's third-base coach, appeared to be out of the picture for Mattingly's staff and confirmed as much on Dan Patrick's radio show on Wednesday.

Besides Lilly, the Dodgers have eight other players who are eligible for free agency -- Hiroki Kuroda, Vicente Padilla, Rod Barajas, Jay Gibbons, Reed Johnson, Scott Podsednik, Jeff Weaver and Brad Ausmus (who retired). The Dodgers retain exclusive negotiating rights with those players until five days after the end of the World Series.

Citing a new agreement between the owners and players union to keep all negotiations secret, Colletti wouldn't comment on negotiations with any of those players.

He did say he still needs to improve the starting pitching. Before the gag order went into effect, Colletti said he had interest in bringing back all three starters -- Lilly, Kuroda and Padilla. Indications are that he's still interested in landing at least one of the two, Kuroda or Padilla. Kuroda is coming off a $15 million salary and Padilla a $5.025 million salary. Padilla is younger, but he also dealt with two injuries in 2010, while Kuroda was able to stay healthy.

일단 새로운 노사규정에 따라 계약상세내용을 외부로 흘러보낼 수 없기때문에 그 이전만큼의 루머는 거의 없는 상황입니다. 예전같았으면 릴리의 계약건도 금액이라도 대충 나왔어야했는데, 계약이 확정된 후에야 금액이 나왔죠. 이건 새로운 노사규정때문에 이렇게 된것이라서 앞으로도 이렇게 소식이 없다가(or 적다가) 갑자기 계약기사가 나올 가능성이 높을거 같습니다.

Colletti said he also wants to add a reliever and "a position player or two."
그외에 릴리프를 1명 내지 2명을 추가하길 원한다고 하는군요. 일단 릴리프에 대해 돈을 좀 쓴다면 풋츠(J.J. Putz), 판스워스(Kyle Farnsworth), 발포어(Grant Balfour), 다운스(Scott Downs), 퀄스(Chad Qualls), 휠러(Dan Wheeler), 헤일먼(Aaron Heilman)정도가 을 수 있겠네요.

개인적으로 토론토 3인방 릴리프를 그닥 높이 평가하는게 아니라서 그냥 딱 한 명(다운스)만 써봤습니다. 그나마 3명중에 다운스가 가장 좋을거 같아서이기도 합니다.

푸엔테즈(Brian Fuentes)의 경우 더 많은 돈이 예상되니 영입가능성은 낮아보이네요.

그외에 좌완불펜을 영입한다면 현재 보유하고 있는 쿼홍치의 2옵션정도의 선수가 될거 같고, 쿼홍치가 있기때문에 만약 영입한다면 원포인트 좌완릴리프일 가능성이 높을거 같네요. 그리고 그 선수는 엘버트와 경쟁할만한 급의 선수라고 예상되기에 많은 금액(1M넘는)의 선수에게는 접근하지 않을거 같습니다.

일단 시장에 나오는 좌완릴리프로는 례이예스(Dennys Reyes), 오만(Will Ohman), 바이멀(Joe Beimel)정도가 있을 수 있습니다.

례이예스는 2년전에 시장에 나올때도 다저스가 영입하려다가 머뭇거리기만 하다가 결국 스프링 캠프가 시작되고서야 부랴부랴 윌 오만과 계약하고 실패를 했던 것이 기억에 나는데, 올해는 어떻게 흘러갈지 궁금하네요.

다저스의 아마추어 스카우팅 디렉터였던 팀 홀그랜(Tim Hallgren)이 다저스를 떠나서 디트로이트로 갔다고 합니다. 로건 화이트가 홀그랜의 직무를 대신 이어받을 것이라고 하네요.

스카우터들을 영입하지않고 멕코티구단주 아래에서는 모두 떠나가기만 하네요.
