엘버커키와 연장계약

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Albuquerque Isotopes have extended their partnership through the 2012 season, the two teams announced today, continuing what has been an extremely successful relationship both on and off the field.

Unless the Dodgers reel off a win streak in the next week, they are likely to place Manny Ramirez, among others, on waivers.

Ramirez, a free agent after this season, returned from the disabled list on Saturday and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. He was given Sunday off and is expected to start on Tuesday night, when the Dodgers open a three-game series in Milwaukee.

Several teams, including the White Sox and Rays, expressed interest in acquiring Ramirez at the July 31 Trade Deadline. To be traded by August 31, the deadline for postseason eligibility, Ramirez must first clear waivers. According to ESPN.com, Ramirez was not placed on waivers on Monday.

A team claiming Ramirez off waivers is likely to wind up with him, because the Dodgers would be freed from having to pay the remaining $3.3 million on his contract. The Dodgers also could pull Ramirez back if he's claimed and keep him. Because he has a no-trade clause in his contract, Ramirez must approve any assignment. Ramirez has been on the disabled list three times this year (twice for a calf strain, once for a sore hamstring).

Other free agents-to-be the Dodgers could unload if they become sellers: pitchers Ted Lilly, Hiroki Kuroda and Octavio Dotel, outfielders Scott Podsednik, Reed Johnson and Jay Gibbons and infielder Ronnie Belliard.

The Dodgers trail first-place San Diego by 12 games and are eight back in the Wild Card race.
비록 ESPN이라는 소스를 인용했지만, 다저스의 출입기자인 캔 거닉이 매니의 웨이버행에 대한 기사를 썼습니다. 일단 매니의 경우 트레이드불가조항을 가지고 있기때문에 웨이버되어서 다른팀과 협의가 끝나더라도 최종적으로는 매니의 승인이 있어야 트레이드완료가 되는 복잡한 절차가 있습니다.

물론 루머에 따르면 매니가 트레이드된다면 불가조항을 풀것이라는 얘기가 있기때문에 가능할지도 모르겠네요.
