THE BARE ESSENTIALS

* With the Rockies breathing down the Dodgers necks and threatening to climb one game closer in the West Division standings, Russell Martin said enough is enough, blasting a grand slam in the sixth inning to break open a tie game and give the Dodgers a 6-2 lead. The Dodgers never looked back and for one night, anyway, kept their 3 1/2 game lead over the Rockies.
오늘 컵스를 상대로 초중반까지 답답한 경기가 이어졌지만, 마틴의 GS으로 후반부에 깔끔하게 이겼으며, 록스가 이겼고 SF가 졌습니다.
현재 지구 3위팀은 우리에게 관심밖 대상이기때문에 일단은 록스가 승리했다는게 여전히 다저스의 마음을 편안하게 가져가질 못하는 요인중에 하나가 되었습니다.

His other granny was a walk-off shot on April 21, 2007 vs. Pittsburgh...Oddly enough, Los Angeles' last grand slam by Manny Ramirez on July 22 vs. Cincinnati also broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning.

* Jeff Weaver tossed a season-high 5.1 innings and lowered his ERA to 3.13 (11 ER/31.2 IP) in his seven starts.

* Matt Kemp went 2-for-4 for his 39th multi-hit game of the season, one behind Andre Ethier's 40 for the club lead. Kemp continues to pace the Dodgers with 140 hits.

Martin's wild throws

Russell Martin has made five throwing errors in the last 25 games, among them an errant throw to second base in the ninth inning of a 3-2 loss to St. Louis on Wednesday night that let Albert Pujols move to third base. Pujols later scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly.

"He just rushes it," said Torre, a former catcher. "Last night, he didn't have much hope of getting Albert in that situation. He got rid of it so quickly."
어제 송구실책을 범했던 마틴에 대해서 토레는 너무 성급하게 행동했으며 푸올스가 예측밖에 행동을 했기때문에 약간은 당황했다고 감싸네요.

Hiroki Kuroda played catch for the first time since being struck in the head by a line drive Saturday, but said he still suffers from intermittent headaches. Kuroda will undergo another neurological examination today. . . . Vicente Padilla will wear No. 44, the number he started wearing when he traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in 2000. Padilla threw a 35-pitch bullpen session and remains on track to start for triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday. . . . Left-hander Will Ohman gave up a run and two hits in an inning for Class-A Inland Empire.
히로 얘기는 밑에 했으니 스킵하고, 파디야의 등번호는 44번으로 결정될 거라고 합니다. 원래 44번의 주인은 엘버커키에 있는 엘리스의 것이죠. 다저스가 올시즌 유난히 "땡"번호를 단 선수가 많네요.

일단 22번은 커쇼, 33번은 드윗, 44번은 엘리스 -> 파디야, 77번은 오만, 99번은 매니 이렇게 되네요.

Wolf restored order in the wake of Hiroki Kuroda's frightening incident and a bitter extra-inning loss. He took a one-hit shutout into the eighth inning for his ninth quality start in his past 10 outings. He struck out a season-high 10 without a walk, effectively spotting both his fastball and slow curve, and he added his fifth career home run. He's 4-7 lifetime against the Cubs.

2년 연속으로 성공적인 시즌을 보내고 있으며, 지금이 자신의 커리어에서 가장 페이스가 좋다고 하는군요.
그러면서 자신은 LA에 남고 싶고 오랫동안 머물팀을 찾는것은 자신에게 아주 중요하다는군요. 물론 이런 계약은 다저스팀에게 달려있다면서 중요한 부분에 대해서는 말을 아꼈습니다.
