12라운더 브라이언 카바조스-갈베스

The Dodgers’ 12th-round draft pick, New Mexico outfielder Brian Cavazos-Galvez, is the son of former Dodgers reliever Balvino Galvez, whose major league career lasted only 10 games in 1986. Balvino apparently still had himself quite a career.
다저스는 12라운드에서 뉴 멕시코 대학의 브라이언 카바조스-갈베스(Brian Cavazos-Galvez)를 지명했습니다. 과거 메이저리거였던 발비노 갈베스의 아들이라는군요.

Let’s go to the video. Balvino, pitching for the Yomiuri Giants in 1998, exchanges words with an umpire after being removed from the game and is being calmed down by teammate Mariano Duncan. It doesn’t work. Instead of handing the ball to his manager, Balvino fires the ball full force at the umpire. An entire team is then needed to restrain Balvino, who injures a teammate in the process. He is suspended for the rest of the season.

By the end of his career, Balvino had pitched for at least seven major league orgaizations and also in Japan, Taiwan and Korea. He was last seen in Pirates spring training in 2001, on the verge of making the team at age 38 after battling Joe Beimel for an opening day roster spot. Then, he mysteriously walked away.

Sadly, Brian grew up around the clubhouse, but hasn’t spoken with his father since he was young when Balvino left for Asia. Born the year after Balvino pitched in LA, Brian now might one day don Dodger blue as well and have his own stories to tell.
일단 아들 브라이언은 다저스의 클럽하우스에서 자랐다고 하는데 아버지가 말이 메이저리거지 거의 트리플A급 선수였는데 이상하네요.

"I still remember hanging out at the stadium in the locker room," Brian told the Albuquerque Tribune last year. “I was about 5 years old at the time.

"I remember thinking ‘This is my dad’s workplace.’ Who wouldn’t want to have a job like that?”

Senior 2009 : Named to the 2009 Preseason All-Mountain West Conference Team...a Brooks Wallace Award Watch List member...named to the National Collegiate Baseball Association Preseason All-America Third Team.

Summer 2008 : Participated in the Northwoods League leading the Battle Creek Bombers in batting average at a .360 clip with four home runs...sported a .566 slugging percentage along with 21 RBI in 35 games.

Junior 2008 : Named All-Mountain West Conference first team... led the Lobos in batting average (.367), home runs (11), RBI (55) and slugging percentage (.633)... sixth in the MWC in batting average, second in slugging percentage, third in RBI, fourth in home runs...finished the season with a 17-game hit streak in tact, beginning on May 1...ranked 16th in the nation for toughest to strikeout, recording only 10 in 210 at-bats...appeared in 54 games for the Lobos starting 51...committed only two errors while also recording six outfield assists...had 14 games with multiple RBI...record-setting game against Air Force on April 12 of 6 hits, 6 runs, 7 at-bats, 10 RBI, 4 home runs was a featured on Ping Baseball.com's Spotlight Performances of the Week...was a perfect 4-for-4 vs. UC Irvine on April 26, including a home run and two RBI...was a single short of hitting for the cycle on Feb. 27 vs. Texas Tech, going 3-for-4 with three RBI...named Mountain West Conference Player of the Week on March 31 after hitting .577 (15-for-26) with five doubles, eight RBI and 12 runs scored.

NMJC (2006 & 2007) : Named two-time All-Conference, All-Region and All-American...2007 National Champion runner-up ...batted .480 with 22 doubles and 11 home runs in 2007, his sophomore season...had 87 RBIs and a .756 slugging percentage in 221 at bats...in 2006, as a freshman, hit .517 with nine home runs and 66 RBIs...doubled 19 times and finished with a .879 slugging percentage in 149 at bats...made the vice president and dean's list.

High School : Played under coach Jim Briggs at Manzano High School...named two-time All-State and three-time All-District...honored as the All-State Player of the Year...was the New Mexico High School triple crown winner in 2005.

Personal : Born on May 17, 1987 to Cynthia Cavazos and Balvino Galvez...father was a pro pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1985 and the Detroit Tigers in 1986...says his greatest thrill while playing sports was being the 2007 JUCO World Series runner-up while playing at New Mexico JC...major is Sociology.

05년 고딩당시에 BA평가 뉴 멕시코 주 4위로 선정될만큼 좋은 선수였지만 드레프트는 되지 않았다고 하는군요.

현재 외야수로 드레프트되었지만 고등학교때는 1루수였다고 하는군요. 영상을 조금 봤는데 어깨가 좋더군요.
위에는 수상경력이나 잘한것만 올려놨기때문에 대충읽어보고 스킵해도 무방할거 같습니다.
확실히 공을 기다리는 성격은 아닌거 같습니다. 작년 210타석동안 볼넷이 달랑 6개뿐이네요. 그렇다고 삼진을 많이 당하는냐...그것도 아니네요. 10K만 당했습니다.
210타석에서 홈런 11개(2B : 17, 3B : 3)로 장타율 .633이면 그렇대로 좋은거 같습니다.
선구안이 안좋다라고 단정짓기가 뭐하네요.

키가 조금 작은 느낌이지만, 그런대로 괜찮고 215파운드면 조금 뺄 필요가 있어보입니다. 한 15파운드 정도는....
암튼 잘 키우면 6번이나 7번정도 칠 수있을거 같네요. 빅리그에서 그의 모습을 본다면 말이죠.
