오늘 경기전까지 통산 13번 선발등판에 무승 7패 4.13ERA를 보여주고 있는 맷 케인(Matt Cain)은 역시나 다저스전에서 좋지 못한 투구를 이어갔습니다.

5이닝동안 3BB를 허용하면서 105개나 던졌는데, 오늘 경기에서는 다저스타선의 특유의 커트신공으로 케인의 스트라익 수치에서 20개나 파울타구를 만들어내면서 케인의 투구수를 늘렸습니다.

물론 SF타선들도 일라이를 괴롭혔지만, 찬스때마다 그들 특유의 레퍼토리로 병살타와 어이없는 주루플레이로 일라이를 도와주면서 케인의 투구수차이가 7개에 불과하지만, 2이닝이나 더 많이 던졌습니다.

일단 오늘 경기에서 가장 주목해야할 점은 다저스 불펜들을 전혀 이용할 수 없는 가운데 일라이가 7이닝을 소화해줬다는 것이 단순히 한 경기를 뛰어넘는 활약이었습니다.

이띠어의 어시스트는 물론 안타를 맞은 이후 빠르게 내야로 공을 뿌린탓도 있지만, 이 수치는 사실상 거저 받은 수치일만큼 이띠어가 해준건 사실 없고, 산도발이 이띠어의 어시스트 수치를 올려준 것이지요.

Ramon Troncoso and George Sherrill combined to pitch the eighth, an inning that ended with Sherrill striking out Aubrey Huff, Sherrill's first strikeout since May 17, a span of 30 batters.  Justin Miller came in to close the game, attempting to get his first career save.  Miller gave up a home run to Pat Burrell and a single to Edgar Renteria, and Ronald Belisario was called upon to get the final out.  Pitching in his third straight game, Belisario made just one pitch, retiring Buster Posey on a line drive to shortstop for Belisario's first career save.
일라이가 7이닝을 소화해줬음에도 불구하고 오늘 경기에 총 5명의 투수가 소모된 것은 릴리프들의 깔끔하지 못한 투구도 한 몫을 차지했습니다. 물론 그런 상황에서 나올 수 없는 투수들밖에 조합할 수 없는 처지이긴 했지만, 어찌되었건 그런 투수 조합으로 승리를 지켜냈다는 것이 조금은 긍정적인 영향으로 다가올거 같습니다.

오늘 0.1이닝 세이브를 기록한 벨리사리오(Ronald Belisario)는 커리어 첫 세이브를 기록하게 되었다고 하는군요. 지난 윈터리그에서 마무리투수로 나오긴 했지만, 타자들의 레벨이 다른만큼 중압감이 있었을테지만, 포지를 잘 막았습니다.


한편, 오늘 1회초에 매니가 햄스트링으로 경기에서 교체되었는데, 이미 경기시작전에 트윗에서는 왜 매니가 오늘 경기에 나오는지에 대해 다들 의구심이 들만큼 최근 경기에 휴식이 없었는데, 이런 사단이 나버렸군요.

If the past is any indication, things could get a little messy when the Giants and Dodgers face off in a matinee for their series finale on Wednesday at AT&T Park.

Vicente Padilla will take the hill for Los Angeles, making his first start against San Francisco since he pegged the Giants' Aaron Rowand in the face April 16. Rowand suffered a broken cheekbone from the pitch, and Padilla was apologetic afterward.

"I'm very sorry," Padilla said at the time. "I'd like to talk to him. I don't want there to be any misunderstanding. It was not intentional. I was just trying to pitch inside, but I never pitch a ball close to anyone's head. And I didn't want to load the bases."

Intentional or not, the incident isn't likely forgotten. The day after the beanball, Giants shortstop Edgar Renteria paid Padilla a visit in the clubhouse to relay the news of Rowand's injury. He also suffered a concussion.

로완드가 화가났다면 파디야에게 분풀이를 할 것이 아니라 월레마이어에게 해야 옳은 일이겠죠.
