Scouting Report: Dodgers: If the Dodgers decide to start Schmidt against the Braves, the right-hander will be looking to rebound from a poor outing on Sunday against the Marlins. After breezing through the first inning, Schmidt struggled to keep the ball down in the zone and got pounded by the Marlins in the second and third, allowing four runs. Dan Uggla homered to lead off the fourth inning and finish Schmidt's outing. Schmidt is 5-8 against the Braves in his career. Braves: Hanson picked up his first Major League loss in his last outing against Milwaukee -- the same team that spoiled his big league debut by knocking him out with a no-decision. In Saturday's game, the rookie right-hander gave up two runs on nine hits in seven innings, walking two with one strikeout. Friday's start against Los Angeles will be the first time Hanson will face the Dodgers. |

Scouting Report: Dodgers: Wolf did well battling Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter for six innings, allowing only two runs. One reached base on a hit batter, the other scored on an infield single. Then the bullpen allowed twice as many runs in the seventh inning as Wolf did in the previous six. So his sixth consecutive quality start became his fifth loss. He is 4-11 with a 5.36 ERA lifetime against the Braves and 4-6 at Turner Field. Braves: Lowe picked up his 10th win of the season on Sunday against the Brewers, allowing just two runs in six innings. He scattered nine hits while walking none, and his only mistake was a two-run homer by Corey Hart in the sixth inning. Lowe pitched for the Dodgers from 2005-08 before signing with the Braves this offseason and has faced his old squad twice before in his career, going 0-1 with a 3.21 ERA. |

Scouting Report: Dodgers: Through five innings against the loaded Cardinals lineup in a scoreless duel, Billingsley was cruising with a one-hitter. Then he imploded with a pair of walks and couldn't get out of the sixth inning, charged with six earned runs and six walks (two intentional). It was the second time in three starts that he's allowed six runs. He has one win since June 14 and is 0-2 with a 5.93 ERA lifetime against the Braves. Braves: Jurrjens was denied his bid to win a fourth consecutive start on Tuesday night, when he allowed the Marlins two runs over six innings and was dealt a no-decision. The 23-year-old right-hander was burdened by a lack of run support in June. But while going 4-1 with a 2.09 ERA in his six July starts, he proved why he's quickly establishing himself as one of the game's top young pitchers. He went 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA in two starts against the Dodgers last year. |
