HE’S WHERE? It’s hard to argue with wanting Yasiel Puig to see more time against advanced competition after what he did in big league spring training—.517/.500/.828 with three homers in 27 at-bats—but it’s still worth noting that he’ll be starting in the Double-A Southern League with all of 23 official pro games under his belt. The Dodgers also skipped righthander Ross Stripling, their fifth round pick last year, to high Class A Rancho Cucamonga to start his first full season, bypassing the low Class A Midwest League.

WHO’S MISSING: Shortstop Jesmuel Valentin, a sandwich-round pick in 2012, didn’t make a full-season roster, but this wasn’t a surprise. Expect the 18-year-old (he turns 19 in May) to appear with Ogden of the Rookie-level Pioneer League in June.

GO SEE: Puig might be the feature attraction, but you won’t find many rosters deeper in prospects than what you’ll see with Chattanooga. The Lookouts boast an all-prospect outfield of Puig, Joc Pederson and Bobby Coyle, and their rotation is led by the three best arms the Dodgers have in the minors: righthanders Zach Lee and lefties Chris Reed and Onelki Garcia.
