멀더를 쫓고 있다?

LA times에 따르면 다저스가 마크 멀더(Mark Mulder)를 쫓고 있다고 합니다. 일단 그의 에이전트에 따르면 다음 주 쯤에 사인하고 2주 후에 메이저게임에서 100개가량의 공을 던질거라고 합니다.
다저스는 멀더를 쫓고 있는 6~8개 구단중에 하나라고 합니다.
가장 최근에 제가 들은건 엔젤스, 다저스, 에이스, 네츠 뿐이었는데 어느새 늘었네요.
According to BIll Shaikin of the LA Times, the Dodgers are interested in signing veteran lefty starting pitcher Mark Mulder. Shaikin writes, "Mark Mulder is working out and, according to agent Gregg Clifton, could sign in one week and throw 100 pitches in a major league game in another two weeks. The Dodgers, with one starter on the disabled list, are among the "six to eight" teams interested, Clifton said".

에이스시절과 05년 카즈에서 멀더는 솔리드 그 자체였지만, 그 이후에 이런저런 아래의 부상을 이유로 06시즌부터 단지 167.2이닝(메이저에서는 106이닝)만을 던졌습니다.
Mulder was 81-42 with a 3.92 ERA in his first five years in the MLB with the A's (2000-2004). After being traded to the Cardinals for Dan Haren, Kiko Calero, and Daric Barton (ouch) Mulder had a great 2005 season, going 16-8 with a 3.64 ERA in 205 innings. Still, he raised red flags because he had cut his K/BB ratio in half from his last year with the A's. Since 2005, Mulder has only thrown 105 innings because of injury, and only 12.2 innings the past two years.

Here are the various injuries that have plagued Mulder over the last three years:

- Left shoulder impingement (6/06)
- Left shoulder surgery (8/06)
- Left shoulder surgery recovery (07)
- Left rotator surgery recovery (3/08)
- Left shoulder strain (7/08)

It's too bad he doesn't throw right-handed. Also note that in the few innings he has thrown he has managed a miserable 7.72 ERA. On top of that, in 26.1 innings in AAA over the same timespan he had a disastrous 10.25 ERA! I'm not sure even Guillermo Mota is bad enough to lose a roster spot to this guy.

아마도 마이너 딜이 구단입장에서는 가장 좋은 방법이 아닐까 싶네요. 에이스에서의 마지막 시즌(04시즌)에 평균 구속은 89.3마일이었고, 05시즌에는 87.9마일로 떨어졌습니다. 그리고 부상을 당하기 시작하던 06시즌에는 85.6마일로 급감했습니다. 물론 07시즌에 87.5마일로 올라갔고, 작년에 89.9마일까지 올라갔지만, 그의 투수이닝은 고작 36이닝(메이저에서는 1.2이닝)에 불과했다.
That said, taking a flier on him couldn't hurt provided it doesn't hinder the development of anyone of any value. We're talking about a minor league deal at best. One encouraging sign is his improving velocity. His last year in Oakland his average fastball velocity was 89.3 MPH. In 2005 it went down to 87.9, and in 2006 when he initially got hurt it was all the way down to 85.6. In 2007 it was up to 87.5 and then last year it was all the way up to 89.9, albeit with a 1.2 inning sample size.

분명 멀더에게 기회는 돌아올 것이고, 자신의 투구폼을 다시 찾을 수 있겠지만, 기대하지는 마라.
Longshot comebacks like Mulder's are always fun to root for and there is a chance, however small, that he can find some of his old form. Just don't count on it.
