루징 시즌 확정

The Dodgers, coming off a three-game sweep of Colorado, assured themselves of a losing season for the first time since 2005 after going to the playoffs the last two years. It will be the fourth time since 1990 they have finished under .500.
다저스가 오늘 지면서 78승 82패를 기록하여 남은 경기 결과에 상관없이 2005시즌 이후 처음으로 루징시즌을 기록하게 되었습니다. 그리고 1990년 이후 4번째 루징시즌(92년 & 99년 & 2005년)을 기록하게 되었습니다.

다저스가 루징시즌을 기록할때는 아주 좋은 픽을 뽑았는데, 92년 루징시즌을 기록한 후 93년에 뽑은 선수가 드라이포트(Darren Dreifort)였고, 99년 루징시즌을 기록한 후 2000년에 뽑은 선수가 벤 디긴스(Ben Diggins)였습니다. 06드레프트에서 뽑은 선수는 커쇼죠.

커쇼 이외에 드라이포트와 디긴스의 경우 뽑을 당시와 마이너에서는 아주 좋은 선수였는데, 결과가 좋지 않았을뿐 픽자체는 나쁘지 않았습니다.

그리고 다시 한 번 루징시즌을 맞이한 다저스는 내년 픽이 과연 보호픽에 들어갈지가 최근 우리 블로그 관심의 대상이 되고 있습니다.

Joe Torre, who will step down as manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers following Sunday's season finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks, said Friday that he has received strong overtures about a possible broadcasting job but that he isn't sure whether he wants to return to that role, which he filled with the then-California Angels during the late 1980s.
한편, 토레는 시즌 후에 (다른 곳에서) 감독을 계속하느냐, 은퇴하느냐를 고심하고 있는데, 방송 해설가제의를 받았다고 합니다. 그렇지만, 그것 역시 확답을 주지 않았다고 하는군요.

일단 시즌이 완료된 후에 생각할 모양입니다. 그리고 다저스조직에 남아 다른 일을 할 수 있는 제의도 있었다고 하는군요.

Dodgers assistant general manager Logan White, who heads the team's scouting department, said Friday night that he is aware of rumors within the baseball industry that he might be fired after the season but that he hasn't been told anything officially by anyone in the organization.

"I'm still working," White said from his home in the Phoenix area. "I'm going to [scout] a left-handed pitcher tomorrow. I haven't been told anything [different]. There is a lot of innuendo and rumor out there, and I hate to even address some of those because they are so ridiculous."

White has run the Dodgers' amateur scouting department since 2002 and is widely considered one of the top scouting minds in the game. He is responsible for having drafted much of the team's current core, including pitchers Chad Billingsley, Clayton Kershaw and Jonathan Broxton, first baseman James Loney, and center fielder Matt Kemp.
최근에 시즌 후 다저스로부터 짤릴 것이라는 루머가 떠돌고 있는 로건 화이트에 대해서는 여전히 다저스와 함께 할 것이며, 다저스에서 일하는 것이 좋다는 얘기를 했다고 합니다. 그리고 내일은 왼손투수를 스카우팅하러 간다고 하네요. 현재 피닉스의 집에 머물고 있는데, 아무래도 교육리그를 둘러보러 가는 듯한 느낌이 드네요.

Dodgers outfielder/first baseman Jay Gibbons had his back examined by Dr. Robert Watkins before the game and was deemed fine, and trainer Stan Conte said he was hoping to receive clearance for Gibbons to possibly pinch hit. Gibbons has been battling soreness in his right calf, and Conte said favoring the calf is probably what led to the back discomfort.
최근에 등쪽이 좋지 못해 경기에 출전하지 못하고 있는 기븐스(Jay Gibbons)의 경우 일단은 괜찮다고 하는데, 경과를 더 지켜봐야할듯하고 이제 오프시즌이라서 무리하게 복귀시키지는 않을거 같네요.

John Ely's final start of the season was another poor one. He was charged with seven earned runs in just four and two thirds innings, allowing ten Diamondbacks to reach base. He struck out three and walked three, threw 49 of 79 pitches for strikes, and was rocked for four extra-base hits, including a two-out, two-run home run to Adam LaRoche in the fifth that chased him. Ely also drew a walk while at the dish.
오늘 선발이었던 일라이는 시즌 마지막을 좋지 못하게 끝나면서 내년시즌을 더 어렵게 했습니다. 경기를 많이 본건 아니지만, 공이 일단 너무 높고 몰리는게 많았기때문에 확실히 5월달의 일라이매니아와는 다른 선수같아 보였습니다.

Though Ely struggled after a scorching, hot as can be start, I still like him as a fifth starter. He's cheap, already under team-control, and has shown the ability to be solid if not above average. And really, it's a fifth starter we're talking about. Your fifth starter doesn't have to be great and is more often than not a revolving door anyways.
그럼에도 불구하고 일라이는 여전히 싸며, 평균이상의 커맨드를 보유하고 있기때문에 섯불리 팔거나 떨이처리는 하지 않을거 같습니다. 마무리가 좋지 못했지만, 한때 한달동안 선발의 한 축을 담당해줬기때문에 트레이드를 시키더라도 가치는 그렇게 심하게 낮지는 않을거 같네요. 일라이가 아무리 삽질을 했더라도 올해 오티즈형제보다는 훨씬 좋았을겁니다.
